Boston Cream Pie? Looks like a cake to me.
Mincemeat Pie? My grandma used to make a great one, haven't had one for decades. Dang, now I need a decent mincemeat pie. Mmmmm

I definitely prefer pie over cake. If I enjoy cake, it’s usually dense as opposed to fluffy. That all being said, it’s hard to beat a good Tres Leches.

I love buttercream icing, and I love carrot cake with cream cheese icing, but as for the cake itself, it's just there. When it's poorly done, it's a lump of flour. When it's well done, it's so light and airy that it might as well not be there. Very few hit the middle, say like a muffin. Muffins are easier, and portable. Or a cupcake with lots of icing [which is what I'm there for anyway].
But it's pie for me. Really don't have a 'favorite' in terms of a specific flavor or filling. Partial to my grandma's fruit pies, for her crust. It's an oil crust, but she cooks it to just the right doneness, so it's flaky and slightly toasted. She's made pies with fresh fruit from the berry patch at the back of the property, and she's made pies with plain old Wilderness canned filling, and I can still pick her's out from a crowd by the crust. But there's also a lady at church who makes a coconut cream pie to DIE for. She makes it all from scratch [I mean, from the whole coconut scratch] and it's rich enough to make you need a nap after one slice. Not quite a pie, but similar in conception, I love banana pudding as well. 'nilla wafers, layered with banana slices, scratch pudding, and real whipped cream. |

Bruiseberry pie and spice cake with condensed milk glaze/icing are my favorite of each.

why choose? get a Pumpercapple Picecake from goldbely. Its ridiculously expensive and weighs 23 pounds, but its a giant cake with 3 full pies baked inside of it.
So best of both worlds, I think. |

Banana Cream Pie Cheesecake. Hands down my favorite. Raspberry Truffle would probably be second. Other than that, I really have no preference.

I'm gonna have to go with pie. My favorite would be banana cream. As for fruit pies, I'd say mixed berry...and probably more of a cobbler.
