Bungie's Destiny Will be Revealed in 5 Days

Yesterday we brought to you the news that a reveal of Bungie's next project, Destiny, was being hinted at for this upcoming Monday, February 18 – an augmented-reality game on the studio's website seemed to be pointing toward that date. Well, we won't have to wait quite that long. It's now been announced that Destiny will be unveiled one day earlier than we thought, on this Sunday, February 17.
An official Facebook page went live today and made that announcement as its first order of business. A Twitter account for the game has also been activated as well.

My level 27 son is looking for one or two people to help him get past one of these new levels. Would any of you be willing to help him out?

When you can, do as many bounties as possible to save up marks and gain reputation. Do public events whenever possible.

Don't let yourself get so sucked into the grind that it starts to feel like a job.

You can't even earn marks until your 18. Your limited to 100 marks earned per week with a total inventory cap of 200.

If your a casual gamer looking for the most efficient way to get end game gear, Destiny kind of forces you to choose between either playing PvP, or PvE content (unless you can play all day).

My advice for the low level casual that likes PvE.
-daily vanguard bounties
-daily Heroic Story Mission (lvl 18+)
-daily Public Event
-strike playlist

You can buy good legendary gear from the Vanguard armory & your vanguard class vendor. Once you get up to 26+ you can do Vault of Glass and move on to Crota's raid when you hit 30. It's very easy now to hit 30.

If you like PvP more, grab your FACTION piece for the group you like and hit the crucible. You can do vanguard bounties with your faction gear equipped and you will earn REP towards that faction instead of the Vanguard.

As a casual gamer with a family, two kids and two 31 characters, from a time efficiency point of view, I just can't play both PvE and PvP.

Up to 24 with almost enough Vanguard marks to buy cheaper (70) armor. This appears to be a mind-numbingly repetitive at this point. I can only do the Moon strike so many times. Prolly going to level to 26, do the Vault of Glass, and trade in the game.

This is basically AC1 (or, to a lesser extent, ME1). A great concept in need of some serious fleshing out.

I'm up to 24 and can't even get my leveling to budge anymore. not sure what to even do at this point,. I can't play any strikes or raids with anyone. Never seems to be a time I can match up with anyone and I'm too far before their level for them to play with me.

I think you need 2 Legendary armors (or 1 fully upgraded one) to move from 24 to 26. I have 4 maxed out rare armors and am at 60 light.

Well the problem for me is that nothing drops anymore. Every level I play comes up empty.

Seems like you can't depend on drops to get past 24. Either do Vanguard, Crucible, or factions to get Legendary armor. Level a faction to 3 and you get free legendary weapons/armor.

well crucible is out. What is vanguard and factions? does it require me to have teammates?

Re Vanguard, you need marks and rep to buy their gear. Bounties, strikes, daily heroic missions, etc.

Basically factions combine the xp from both Vanguard & Crucible, with the added bonus of free stuff.

I've gotten to 29 without grouping, it's pretty easy to get vanguard marks via dailies and public missions. Once you're in your higher 20s you can start to solo heroic flashpoints.

Best thing for gear for me has been doing the nightfall when I'm able (I can't solo them right now, should be able to again at 30/31) and then running whatever vanguard bounties are available every day to level up reputations. Last check I think I was somewhere over level 10 with Dead Orbit (even though I don't run crucible, some of the gear I like, when I need to I get crucible marks via material turn-ins), recently level 5 with Vanguard since now I need the new commendations, and level 30 with the Cryptarch.

Just take it slow, don't treat it like it's a grind you have to do every day. Do it when you feel like it. There's really no reason to rush unless you're trying to be a regular raider or pvpers.

For me, running some public missions for an hour with a podcast on is a great way to deal with stress, or to turn my brain off.

Whats frustrating is that I got to level 22 on my own, then my son played a couple missions on it and jumped me to level 24 in less than 30 minutes. Now I play and can't even budge it an inch in 24. I just don't understand the inner workings of this game at all and it is extremely frustrating. Even reading your post has me confused to be honest. highlighted stuff I know nothing about.

Hell my vanguard bounties aren't even getting me anything. Its almost as if my profile is broken or something. I was showing my son how I never get a precision kill so he watched me play and didn't see why it wasn't getting me any. Then he played and rocked it and still didn't get any precision kills. It makes no sense. But I really do NOT want to start all over.

From what I remember Guru when I played, (I got to 28 in a week) There are 3-4 reputation guys at the base station. You wear a piece of gear to receive rep, Then you do missions and online pvp matches to receive the rep. Once you get it past a certain point you get gear. Once you get the gear you level it up. There is also the bounty person, always make sure you have gear on that you want leveled up when turning in bounties.

Precision kills are headshots I believe, you need to be accurate..

You will not budge or level up until your gear does..

I headshot everything now. NADA for precision kills. I see all the yellow numbers and get the exploding head on headshots. It just doesn't make sense.

I've never seen a more confusing leveling system. How would people even be able to figure this shit out. I mean literally nothing in the game tells you this.

You need better +Light gear to level up past 20. Buy better faction legendary armor, and turn bounties in to level it up. Don't forget you need resources to make the high end upgrades as well. Do you have a bungie account so we can see your gear?

you should be doing the Vanguard STRIKE playlist at your level. This will get you rep for your specific faction (vanguard by default; unless you have class item equipped for either FWC, Dead Orbit or New Monarchy) as well as Vanguard marks (currency to buy legendary stuff). I would suggest using the Vanguard as your faction if your a solo'er and dont play much crucible.

I have not played a single PvP match.. everything I have was either purchased from the Vanguard vendor's, Xur or a drop from Vanguard Strike playlist/Nightfall/Weekly Strike/Vault of Glass normal.

Check to see which Faction your Class Armor is for. You might be set for Dead Orbit or Future War Cult. You'll only get the rep for the Faction you represent.
