Andy Reid is a cool guy, too. Probably a big reason the Chiefs have pulled in a few players that wouldn't normally come here.

I still think that KC's top 3 CB's are all better than Joe Haden.

Haden is just a name at this point.

Before his injury his number of yearly pass defenses was comparable to Marcus Peters. He only was getting half the interceptions though. He is probably worth a shot at 4 million to be our #2 cornerback.

What would you rather do?

A. Pay 28 year old Joe Haden $3-4 million who has been trash the last 2 years.
B. Use that money to give 25 year old Terrance Mitchell an extension.

I have to imagine the bulk of the people that are hyped for this havent actually payed attention to his play.. he has been bad.. real bad.

Probably an upgrade over our 4th CB, but I like our top 3 better. Someone is going to give him starter money, just hope its not us.

You can make the argument that he can return to his younger form, but I dont see any reason we need to go after him, and we are going to be sorely disappointed when he gets burned time and time again because he cant play man.

Is Mitchell even healthy enough to play right now? That's the issue.

All y'all pimping his PFF grades:

I am typically totally on board with PFF, but this is definitely one instance in which context is extremely important.

Haden had six picks as a rookie. He then became the only threat on that defense. Teams could easily just throw elsewhere – and they'll only throw to Haden's side of the ball in high-percentage situations, where a completion is likely due to coverage/scheme/route combinations, which leads to the high completion percentage you see in his PFF grades.

The other major contributing factor: pass rush. The pass rush in nonexistent in CLE. It just is. Give any NFL receiver enough time to get open and they'll do it – I don't care who they are. Haden and co. can't be expected to play shutdown football at the CB position without a pass rush.

Bottom line: The dude played for the Cleveland Browns. Put Richard Sherman, Marcus Peters, or any other top-tier NFL cornerback in that situation...and don't be shocked when they put up very similar numbers to Haden. He's a victim of circumstance, and we'd be a much better team with him on our defense.

EDIT: And YES, I have watched his play over the last several seasons, I'm not just basing this assessment off of assumption. The bulk of my family is from NE Ohio, so the Browns are typically, and unfortunately, a household staple.

Will Gaines ever be healthy? Is Nelson an NFL caliber CB? Those are the other ones.

Ok, so maybe he's not better than Mitchell...but what about Gaines? Hopefully he actually tries to defend passes instead of staring off into the backfield like a ding dong.

That play triggered an inner rage in me that I didn't know existed at the time. It's a near miracle I'm not in prison.
