Jenkins to IR, Avant signed, offense should be better.

Im pretty happy about this. Jenkins offered nothing aside from a would-be big play that ended with him surrendering a sure TD by running out of bounds of his own volition.

Avant knows the offense, and moreover, is pretty damned sure handed. Id really like to see what the details of his signing are, but I have to believe that this just made the offense better. Hell, he cant be any worse than AJ Jenkins at worst.

It would be great to have another receiver out on the field that could compliment Bowe, and perhaps even take some of the attention off of him. He should fit right into this offense and hopefully be able to contribute against the Broncos.

If anything it will be refreshing to see a WR that actually catches passes that Alex puts right on him.

That's why we're bringing in Avant? To be there for the 50/50 one-handed catches that won't get thrown anyway because Alex Smith never ****ing throws those routes?

Sounds ****ing great.
It's not like he built a career on one catch. Avant can catch the ball in traffic and hold on to the ball after getting popped. He can catch off his back shoulder, make a dive for a ball, catch a ball thrown behind him or too high or too low. He can catch a contested slant pass. How about a simple fade in the end zone? Most of these are really conservative passes, by the way.

What slot option do we have that can do those things? Smith will only throw to Hemingway if he's wide, wide, wide open. Smith isn't going to throw into tight windows but we saw with McCluster last year that if he trusts his receiver, he will throw passes even if the receiver doesn't have huge separation.

Just watch that vid and you see several ridiculous catches that our scrubs couldn't dream of making.

You see fighting for the ball, great catches, great route-running, pretty much everything SNR claims the guy cant do.

Haters gon Hate.

You're missing the point again, dude. This isn't about Avant being an upgrade over our current 3, 4, 5 guys at the WR position.

He had about 650 yards receiving his last year with Andy Reid in Philly. About 4 catches per game.

We upgraded the receiving corps with this move.

I don't think I'm missing the point. I pointed out several things Avant does once the ball is in the air that separate him from a receiver who can't do those things. Those things certainly fall under the category of "pass catching."

Of course you can't be a terrible athlete or terrible route runner and get away with it. But you mentioned a receiver getting draped... A good pass catcher doesn't need as big of a window to be productive. Avant is actually a great example of that. He wasn't elite in route running or athleticism. He was an elite pass catcher and that's really what turned him from a nobody receiver into a really good one.

Andy Reid and John Dorsey gave the guy 1.05 million for a 5 game contract.

I doubt they pay him that much if he has nothing left.

He was ranked 20 out of 111 WRs who played at least 25% of there teams offensive snaps that year
