Carjacking at 95th & Monrovia with baby in car ends safely

So, a car was stolen\jacked at a Bank of America at 95th & Monrovia tonight with a 5 month old baby in the back. The car and baby were found at 79th & Wornall and the baby is safe.

This ended well but it happens too often. This is the perfect case for CCW, imo. Apparently one of the passengers was hit in the leg with a bat. It is unclear if the person was trying to save the child or not.

Having said that, what would you do if someone tried to take your car with your child in the back seat? It's a very scary thought but these days it seems to be one we must confront on a daily basis.

I like to do my shopping at the Wal Mart Neighborhood market in Overland Park.
Yes, that Price Chopper gives me the heebie jeebies. It's also across the street from a liquor store and a fried chicken place. You do the math.

That Hyvee is open 24/7, and I'll typically go there when I'm craving something late at night after work. Last time I was there, two swarthy looking fellows were hanging around outside. Didn't know who they were or what they were up to, but I didn't feel 100% safe, and there were no cops around.

No, I would never go around there at that time of night. That's a dangerous environment even with a CCL.

"Swarthy". Swarthy? Do you have any idea how insulting racist you sound?

Are you serious or trolling?

Wow. It sounds like you have an irrational fear of non-whites, not a need of a gun.

Holy crap.

Statistics don't lie. It is what it is. And that part of town isn't a nice part of town.

*shrug*

You're overstating it a bit. I still go to that Price Chopper frequently. I certainly wouldn't go there after midnight, though.

Also, I'm not racist. Independence is full of WHITE meth heads. I'd want protection in that part of town, too.

My best friend died when I was 21 years old. That doesn't mean that every best friend from that point on was going to die.

You have irrational fears about your safety because of your Dad's mugging. But he's alive and uninjured.

That's what you should take from that story, not that he was some kind of Charles Bronson vigilante.

I don't have irrational fears. I just recognize the value of being prepared, especially if I feel like I'm entering a "danger zone."

So, it turns out the parents were doing a transaction in the parking lot, got out of their running car when I guy jumped in the drivers seat and drove off. Better pull out my gat and shoot out the back window of my own car with my baby in it as it speeds off!
