There's Speeding...then there's SPEEDING
Sorry if a re-post. Dude clocked going over 200 mph in a Mustang in Oklahoma:
http://www.kmbc.com/article/man-arre...rnpike/8300966 The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a state trooper arrested a driver after clocking his speed at more than 200 mph. The patrol says Trooper Ryan Smith pulled over the man Saturday on the Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City. Authorities say the man was driving a Ford Mustang and the trooper's radar clocked the car at 176 mph and then 208 mph. Authorities say the driver attempted to elude the state trooper -- turning off his headlights and brake lights at one point -- but he was eventually pulled over at a red light. The highway patrol says the driver stopped his car and dropped his keys out of the window. The highway patrol says the driver was arrested on complaints of reckless driving and felony eluding. |

I did 125-ish in my Camaro on I-70. The lanes got very very narrow. Even my invincible teenage ass got scared and slowed down.
208 seems like any little bump in the road would send you skidding out of control. |

I can't remember the details, but a friend of mind about 10 years ago go pulled over for doing about 140 on his sportbike. screwed his world all up financially. I believe he lost his license for a year or so, huge fines. luckily, they dropped felony eluding because he just pulled over and waited. But they still dinged him for reckless driving I believe. He's been paying through the nose for insurance...I think still.
poor bastard.

lol at all the naysayers, with a little power and enough road it's totally plausible. 10lbs of boot putting it at 650/700 hp will do 2xx. Modern technology is great this isn't your 70's Camaro, I'm guess the car wasn't wildly unstable even at those speeds. Kids ****ed, I was timed (by the stupid ****ing airplane) doing 155 in a 55, after telling me I had an unreal lapse in judgment the judge thanked me for my service and hit me with a 400 dollar fine, this kid will do some jail time for this.

I got to 150 mph in my Corvette. Felt like I was going to lift into the air. Never again.

I drove all the way from Pensacola to Nashville without taking my foot off the gas unless traffic forced me to in a 93 Rx7 turbo.
Probably 80% of the trip at 155mph That car Loved to open it up. felt like you were rolling 90 after an hr or so. |

Why does everyone think this car has a rocket ship engine? lol it doesn't take much to do 200 mph in a car with decent aerodynamics

Try Wyoming.
Funny story: Single Dad here, so I used to take each one of my children on their own vacation. It was the youngest sons turn and he wanted to go to Yellowstone. Cutting across Wyoming and we can see for miles. So I asked him, "Do you want to go a 100 mph?" He was all hell yeah, cause he is 10. I take the rental car piece of shit up to 110 mph and we giggle. Then right over the next hill a State Trooper busted me for going 78. My kid starts to tell the Trooper how we just got done doing 110 mph, officer is like "Is that right...." I didn't even argue the ticket for 78. |
