Two things I remember about Krieg:

1) DT sacked him seven times in one game, yet he still threw a game winning TD for Seattle on the final play of the game to beat KC that day. Have to admire his for that.

2) When the Jets' Dennis Byrd got paralyzed, Krieg was the QB he was trying to sack. He stepped up from the pass rush, and Byrd and another Jets player collided head on right behind Krieg. If Krieg doesn't step up, Byrd never gets hurt. That's just random football luck.

I vaguely remember that play. That was a deep ball to Davis if i remember right?


Its funny watching those Krieg highlights now. He threw a pretty wobbly ball. He was pretty damn average, yet won alot of games for the most part.

I remember that game and that play. Even though he was the Seahawks QB, I became a Dave Krieg fan that day because he made such a great clutch play. As I recall, Derrick Thomas had both hands on Krieg on that play right before he broke free and threw the winning TD pass.

I was sick that the Chiefs lost the game, but I had to tip my hat to Krieg for such a winning play. I still think he would have been a very good QB for the Chiefs if they hadn't brought Montana in after Krieg had been here for a single season (although bringing in Montana was definitely the right move to make).
