Had TWC done this 18-24 months ago, I'd have prolly skipped Google because I need a phone, I use more than 5000 minutes a month, and Google doesn't offer a phone. TWC ****ed up by waiting until it was too late.

I just got mine hooked up and holy shit. I uninstalled Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes from steam, its a 3 GB game, and reinstalled and it took literally 20 seconds. Compared to Comcast and ATT (before their fiber) it blows it out of the water. Also it's beautiful since we're in an apartment because we don't have a construction fee or a cancellation fee/contract. Totally worth the money just on internet alone, gotta take the cable for a spin.

The speedtest numbers I got were:
1ms ping
941.37 mbps download
944.54 mbps upload

Welp, they got the driveway poured (LOL!!!), and on the same day the company who installed all the boxes came beck and fixed the box in the yard - so now all the conduit is actually in the box! LOL, this has been a joke up until now!

Now I guess they can run the fiber down the street and stitch the fiber from the box in the ground to the house. Lets hope they don't break anything doing that!!!

When the get to you if they want to sit their boring machine on your driveway, so no! If they insist, get pics (it's important).

Then, when the in-ground box installers come around for their part of the deal (step 30 of a 393-step process!!), make sure they actually have all the orange couduits (orange tubes) IN THE ****ING BOX. If not, the fiber-to-the-side-of-the-house installers (step 31 of the 393-step process), will delay your street until those idiots come back and question why there needs be at least two conduits in the box.

Well it's not easy unless you stand there and know the guy is saying there should be "4." In this case I was left just laughing at all of them. We're the first house on the street so we had the most fiber running through our box. So old boy says there should be four:

1) a 2" coming in from the main feed upstream
2) a 2" heading farther down the street
3) a 1" also heading down the street because there was a lot of fiber (more on that in a bit)
4) a 1" going under the street to feed the box in the yard across the street, and those two houses directly across from us.

My thoughts (that made me laugh):

A) There was only one conduit in the box, so how the hell did the box puter-inners not know at least one was missing (we weren't the end of the line!!). I mean how dumb were they.
B) If we only have a 2" feeding us from upstream, why would they need a total of 3" heading farther down stream. His comment, "you make a good point."
C) The missing "under the street 1" conduit", since there WASN'T A BOX over there, because the first house is fed from the other side of the house (and the line in the yard where they buried it was WAY ****ING OBVIOUS!) So I said, "maybe we could look for boxes on the OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET and see if maybe they fed it from another box that makes more sense." LOL, that's exactly what happened. Old boy's comment well, "well I guess that makes sense)...

So you'd have to know what was in the plans, have a bit of common sense if that's your career (meaning the box installers and the "old boy" who is part of the fiber installation crew) because you do it all for a career.

I guess from the start of this effort, Google has proven themselves to hire some pretty goofy people. ****ing up driveways (because you sit a heavy ****ing boring machine on it after a week of stupid-heavy rain), and all these little brainless things, it just makes you wonder how well the rest is going to go. I'm not sure I'm going to disconnect my Time Warner stuff for a month or two, I'd like to make sure we don't find out that the rest of the people they having doing their part(s) aren't equally dumb.

I get that "the prints called for four", and there was only one, but the one across the feeding the other side of the street didn't have a box to connect to, and 2" to 3" seemed pretty easy to "figger out."

I'm lost a little more faith in humanity, but it'll be restored when I get my Gig!

Apparently two weeks notice isn't enough time for Google Fiber to get you an install at a new house in the exact same neighborhood you've had their service for over a year.

Google took over some big warehouses we have out here where i live for their development of their self driving cars. THey need to bring fiber here. THey just signed up to lease more land here. Make it happen google! lol
