Should we start Dyson in game 3

Aoki has done nothing this postseason batting wise. He is a major defensive liability especially in San Fran where RF is a bit interesting. You move Cain over to RF and have the best outfield in all of baseball. You move Infante up to the 2 spot and have Dyson hit 7th.

Hoz and moose are getting 4M in raises after terrible seasons? Ill have to see that. It's possible but I doubt it.

Then again you said Willingham =8M so.

You all also got an additional six+ sellout dates at home with massive concession sales. That adds a healthy amount to the bottom line.

Willingham is worth about $8M to a team that wants him. It's not his fault we decided to not use him. Career .825 OPS guy. Gotta pass a physical first, though.

And yes, Hos and Moose will get raises after potentially leading a team to a World Series.

Hos is a Super 2 already making $3.6M. He'll get bumped up to 5 or 6.

Moose will get a healthy raise. He's a starting 3rd baseman and he made a huge name for himself in the postseason. He's gonna ask for X, we're gonna counter with X, and odds are his agent and Dayton will find a common ground and avoid arbitration all together. But he's going to make probably around $2.5M, I'd have to think.

you gotta think Glass finally gets what winning baseball means to Kansas City

I'm not saying he's going to say, "go wild, Dayton!"

but $110M cap is reasonable

two things...

his ROI for the Royals is incredible

2019 isn't that far away

and we're gonna sell a ton of tickets next year...

I bet we eclipse $100M, for sure

so yep

Glass is gonna have to give Dayton 100-110 to play with, and much deserved, after what we've done this year...we're gonna sell more season tickets, and we certainly have a team built for another deep playoff run which is pure profit for the Royals as well

and 2019 is gonna be a big, big, big payday for Glass...so we can operate in the red while our core is still together for a few years
Petro covered this on the radio before. After all raises kick in the payroll will be 80-85 million in 15 before resigning any FA.

I know I'm probably alone in this, but even at that payroll level... I don't care if they get to 110 just for the sake of getting to 110. I think the overall payroll number is way overrated, at least when you're comparing it to a 90 million payroll. The important thing is to spend the money wisely and give yourself a chance to sign guys you've developed. I don't want to cheap out later because we wanted to sign Jose Guillen now just to say "Oh look! Glass is spending money!"

Just like it was this year... the most important thing is developing our own starting pitching. I'm sure Dayton will probably look for another pitcher to replace Shields, and hopefully guys will be interested in signing here without having to offer 10-15% more money than everyone else. Especially with this defense.

That RF corner is a bitch to field in. If you watched the NLCS you saw the tricks it plays on an OF. Even Pence who has been there for two years blew it.

You will save more runs than Aoki will ever score offensively. Go for the defense. Dyson in CF and put your best OF in RF, Cain.

I was very surprised to learn that the Cardinals salary cap is 107 Million that's cheap for getting to the World Series as many times as they have done.

The Royals have an incredibly small amount of wasted payroll this year. Hochevar is the glaring exception, but nearly of all of our payroll is being used on the field and providing value. Dayton certainly appears to have spent wisely.
