I'll be honest, I haven't watched a ton of Alex Smith, especially in his first five years, but what I've seen goes against your ideas on his accuracy. I'm sure he's had his share of wild passes, and he doesn't have a great deep ball, but the numbers recently don't back you up. He takes too many sacks and has an average arm. Those are his weaknesses as I see.

I guess it would make sense for you to explain where he is lacking as a QB. Or which QB's in the last 10 drafts would be ranked ahead of him.

I watched a lot of Geno last season, because I was excited about him, and half way through the season, I thought he was a no question first pick. He eats up lesser competition. When there's no pressure he looks unstoppable. As the season went on I fell more and more out of love with him. The higher the pressure the worse he played. I wanted him so badly to rise to the occasion, but he seemed to, crumble is the wrong word, but become, meh, in big games. And frankly, just body language, and his demeanor said to me its no my fault, its my stupid team.

Its my opinion, nothing more, but I think Geno will take years to figure it out at the NFL level.

As far as the other QBs, do you want where I think Geno would fit in in each year? Its hard, because we're going off, against an unknown.

2004- Geno would go 3rd or 4th
2005- Anywhere from 1st to 3rd
2006- Same, anywhere from 1st or 3rd
2007-1st
2008- 2nd
2009- 2nd
2010- 2nd
2011- 2nd
2012- 3rd.

Someone on one of the NFL draft sites said something interesting. He said the Chiefs are the best team I can remember to have the first overall pick. This is a good roster, but it'll need significant turnover in three or so years. It think that's why Reid and Dorsey are taking the approach the seem to be taking. Reid isn't trying to rebuild the team, he's trying to strengthen its weak points and win now. I'm not saying they won't draft Geno, but I don't think they're willing to take lumps as he learns. He'll have to do his learning off the field.

And Geno loves thst. You know how hard he studies and how much film he watches. Genos sleeps and breathes football. Its not about the money for him. He loves the game.

Absolutely.

And I think that's a good thing.

They bring in Alex Smith to immediately help reverse a "culture of losing" problem that rapidly developed under Pissholi. He's a solid QB. He's capable of putting wins on the board, especially at home. This team needs that.

And by drafting Geno, it provides a foundation for the future of this team once that systemic negativity is removed.

This Chiefs team reminds me a lot of the 49er's team prior to the arrival of Harbaugh. A ton of talent but they got caught up in the negativity of having idiots and egocentric assholes in managerial positions. Neither Dorsey nor Reid are that type of guy and many players have already stated that both are guys who you want to play for because you have to earn their respect versus demanding you respect them for no other reason than the title on their business cards.

And I firmly believe that when Reid said he was going to help get Alex Smith into the Hall of Fame, it wasn't as a player. The guy has been noted as being a veritable coach on the field and has played through some of the worst situations I've seen a QB been put through during his Niners time. Unless Reid sees Alex Smith as an equivalent to Kurt Warner, I think that the guy is going to make a pretty damn good coach eventually and by working under Reid for the next two years is going to be as good in terms of building his potential as a coach as it will be for building Geno's potential as an All-Pro level quarterback.

Why don't you check and see what percentage of his passes traveled beyond the 10 or 15 yd range this past season when he completed 70% of his passes...

Since I don't care, I'll let you look. While you looking, find out what the league average is of passes beyond 15 yards.

It's been posted in a breakdown. It is significantly higher than the league average. As in, he led the league by a wide margin.

Someone have this status somewhere? Wendler?
