Dannon drops Cam Newton

BREAKING NEWS: Dannon got it's panties in a twist because Cam Newton made a true statement. It is funny to hear women talk about football routes.

The PC police are in hypermode.....

Un-freaking-believable!

I really think what he was laughing about was how labored the question was, how monotone it was, how it sounded like she was reading a question somebody else wrote on a card and asked her to ask.

It's still not OK for Cam to say what he said, just let her struggle through asking the question then answer it as best you can.

Silly silly world.
I know a women who got into sports reporting. I refuse to follow her on Twitter because I can't believe some of the awful shit they have to put up with. It's nuts that reporters have to out up with lunatics as part of the job description and women deal with it worse. I'm not for pc policing. But examples like this are pretty damn obvious. He knew he was being a dick and it's not something you'd get away with at work, let alone as not just a football player, but a brand.

Only two good reasons for a woman to be at an NFL press conference.

Well, three if she will take it in the ass.

Women eat a lot of yogurt.

Want to get paid a lot of money endorsing yogurt? Don't bash women.

It's not that complicated.

On the bright side he probably locked up a douche endorsement with his comment. You win some you lose some.

This is not what he said. You are putting words into his mouth. He simply said, "It sounds funny to hear women talking about routes". That's it. It sounds unusual to me as well when I come across a woman who really knows football and can speak about it at a high level. I just don't come across that many in my day to day that are THAT interested in it. There isn't anything sexist about that fact, it's just a fact. I would imagine that many women would think it would sound funny if I, a big bald man, could speak at a high level about hair care. I wouldn't think it sexist. I wouldn't call for the public shaming of the woman who said it.

Everyone just needs to dial back their rage-machine.

Maybe Cam is a complete sexist pig, but to jump to that conclusion based soley on that one little comment, is a huge stretch. Oh, and by the way, he answered the question in a detailed and respectful response immediately following.

Really? If I walked into the breakroom tomorrow at my work (office environment) and heard a woman co-worker talking in depth about route tree's and "truck-sticking" other players, I might say the exact same thing that cam said - "wow, not often you hear women talking about routes, etc.". I can pretty much guarantee to you that not only would I "get away with it", but everyone including the woman would smile and nod in agreement. Then we'd get back to work and no one would give the comment another thought.

Yes, true, but that's a totally different context. This woman was a professional NFL reporter in a press conference. It wasn't a good look to say the least. Like a clip from a 90s sports film, a la Major League, where one of the players from a Bad News Bears'esque squad hits on a lady reporter and we're all supposed to chuckle.

Uh, no. First it's pretty obvious by his tone that he wasnt complimenting her for talking football. He was mocking her. Pretty clear as day.

Second, your coworker doesn't earn a living in football. If you worked in banking, and you told a coworker who worked in investments "wow, not often you hear women talk about interest rates" in that tone of voice, your work place would most definitely lose their shit.
