You know.. it wouldn't surprise me at all if you don't even like Alex Smith.. and that you like throwing these posts out every so often because it stirs up more hate for him.

At any rate, Mav had it right. The stats really won't be there.. efficiency but not the Brees type of numbers.. and Alex has always been a somewhat forgotten yet integral part in his team's successes.

He's a good quarterback, but getting carried away with MVP thoughts is an eye-roll.. serious intent or just trolling.

Yeah, the first game he played like crap. Even then at least it wasn't Cassel bad where he made the wrong reads. It was just not good throws. The other 3 he's been good. MVP good? Eh....that's debatable but I wouldn't say it has been that good. If he can play the rest of the year like the past 2 games....

Because the OP mentions an award that is based on the season as a whole, and then leaves out his first 2 games stats already, lol.

So if we don't go deep because it is a weakness of Alex's, that's an awfully big hit to his value as a QB hence the totally fair, not fantasy based argument that he shouldn't/couldn't win MVP. No matter how selflessly he hands it off to the actual MVP of this team.
Not trying to pick a side here, but PART of the reason he doesn't go downfield more is our o line can't hold a block that long. And another part is he's uncomfortable doing it in general, and 3rd is out receivers struggle to get the seperated enough to have a more open lane for him to throw into. If we know one thing about Alex it's that he is not a risk taker or "chuck it and hope your WR comes down with it" type of guy. He protects the football.

Football Outsiders has the KC offensive line ranked almost dead last, ahead of only Jacksonville.

This is the truth. Did anyone catch the game last night and see how wide open Jordy Nelson was on his long TD? He had like 10 steps on his defender. Play design, route running, and most of all pass protection is key to getting those types of plays. With that said, Jamaal Charles is probably the best route runner on the team and the pass protection hasn't shown that they could handle that type of play yet.

Once Alex can beat some good teams, then I will start to be a believer.

But MVP?
