The Kansas City Chiefs have placed the franchise tag on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, committing $19.8 million of its 2024 salary cap to the four-year veteran, according to a report from Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz. This non-exclusive tag allows Sneed to negotiate with other teams, and if he accepts an offer from a new team, the Chiefs have the right to match the offer or receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

I suppose there is a scenario where the Chiefs trade Sneed for less than what they would get if they let him walk from signing a deal with another team...but where is the logic in that unless you really don't want him on your team for 1 more year.

If it's exclusive he can't speak with other teams according to the rules the Chiefs would have to seek trade partners.

This is all so confusing...

I can't see that KC will or can afford to let the Jones situation drag on that long.

They will either get something done or give up on it. They can't, in my opinion, compete with teams like the Texans if Jones drags things out and angles for a maximum contract.

If they sign Jones quickly, Sneed is likely gone.

If they give up on Jones...

I see it depending on how much Spags values Sneed versus keeping other players and what Spags thinks of next man up replacing Sneed.

And of course what teams offer for Sneed...

Let’s try to keep this within the realm of realistic LOL….

The thought of getting Jameson back in a trade with Detroit is very intriguing to me…don’t know if they’d deal him but if they were open to it, I def. would be.

I’m down with Jameson. Pitts has been struggling in Atlanta.

If Pitts is struggling what would you call what Jameson has done with the lions?

I wonder if we’d get pick 43 from the Falcons?

I’d probably take that.

Pitts has a body of work comprising 3 full years.

Jameson has a cobbled together 1 full year.

I'd much, much rather have the flyer on the latter.

Trade compensation yes - but if he signs an offer sheet that is too much for the Chiefs to match - the compensation is 2, 1st round picks.

Raheem Morris was the DC in LA when the Rams had to have Jalen Ramsey. Can definitely see them trading pick 43 for Sneed. That sounds very fair
