I've been cooking most of our meals since late 2012 and I've really noticed the difference between our home cooked meals, whether it's grilled burgers, dogs, steaks, or stir fry, tacos and even breakfast, compared to fast food and lower end restaurants. I'm pretty much to the point to where unless it's an extreme inconvenience (like a road trip), I'll avoid fast food for home cooked. That's pretty much something I wouldn't have said 10 years ago. |

I think people will still continue to eat fast food even with the prices going up. However, they might eat out a little less. I also believe that this won't hurt Mc's as much as it will hurt the smaller chains or the Mom and Pops, Mc's will raise prices some and take a little hit to earnings. But there are a lot of smaller franchisees that may not make enough to keep the doors open. If min wage goes to $15 per hour, I can guarantee restaurants will close. The profit margin is pretty small as it is.

Mc's - 80% Burger King - 90% Wendy's - 85% Sonic - 90% Subway - 100% And a good percentage of GMs make at least $50K with some making over $100K. |

I gotten between $75-100 on average in restaurant cards for Christmas recently. I rarely eat out outside of them unless it's something upscale or local. And I often don't use those up in the year.
And those cards come from fundraisers that take a goodly percentage of the value off the top.

I think I've mentioned that I'm gluten-free (which sucks ass) and as such, I've been preparing meals at home. I think my favorite all-time meal is tacos, whether it's Tex-Mex ground beef tacos or grilled chicken with guacamole and pico salsa. So for the past few years, I've begun experimenting with spices and packs and homemade salsa and guac and so on. A few weeks ago, it was a late night, my wife was with the kids, called and stopped at Taco Bell. I was working so I placed an order. Good grief! By the time it got home (only about 7 minutes), it was soggy and completely flavorless. Compared to the ground beef that I cook and spice, along with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, freshly shredded cheese and warm taco shells, it was almost inedible. Anyway, short story long, unless it's an amazing fast food place like an In-And-Out or Fatburger, each of which can provide less than amazing results on occasion, I'd just as soon eat at home. Exception being Thai, Chinese or Japanese. Someday, I'll take a Sushi Chef course but I'll be in my late 60's before having the time. |

As for Australia and the rest of the world. McDonald's are different there, most are not fast food. They serve a better product also.

The Pluto thing really bothered me. I don't think I got out of bed for two or three days after I heard the news.
