Today I was reminded of how often I live in a cocoon. I overheard some coworkers talking about a recent murder that happened in town, they then mentioned a past incident regarding a student and suspicious circumstances.

It turns out that a student committed suicide eight months ago by jumping off of a parking garage in town. Some months after his death, multiple witnesses came forward implicating him in the death of a professor, including bludgeoning and immolation, in a parking garage no less, eight years earlier. These witnesses claimed they were afraid to come forward for fear of reprisal.

It turns out that the now deceased student was a student of mine a few summers ago. He came off as a bit irascible, but it's difficult to conceptualize occupying a shared space with an alleged murderer for six hours a week.

Needless to say, spooky.

A few years ago I was going east on Truman road and was stopped at the light at Sterling. In my rearview mirror I see a girl in a SUV try to change lanes. She cutoff a guy in a F150. F150 guy decides to ram the passenger side of her SUV and proceeds to push it across the road into oncoming traffic. He pushed it all the way across the street and into a light pole. The light pole falls and lands right on the roof of the F150. F150 guy then decides to get out of the truck with a hammer. He goes up to the driver side window of the girl in the SUV and proceeds to beat the window all while screaming at the top of his lungs for her to exit the car. Police arrived in what seemed like 1 minute and was able to apprehend this animal before he could hurt the woman. Pretty sure she had nightmares about that incedent for a minute.

Girlfriend had been cheating on him with a guy Mike worked with who had been an asshole to Mike..girlfriend had bought the gun to protect herself from Mike cause he had been going crazy..he somehow talked her into coming over to try and make up..had jumped her when she got there and tied her up and then killed her when I got there..Mike left a note to me explaining it all..said that I saved him from killing himself in school so he thought maybe if I got there I could save him again but decided that it was too much because he wanted to marry this woman and she had already killed him

Good grief dude, that's terrible.

Not surprising. Had a student that lived next door to the Washington DC sniper.
Dad helped stop someone who wanted to commit suicide.

Early in my teaching career, We hired a guy to teach and help lower class sizes. Seems ok in the interview.Not the best, but ok.

We coached wrestling together. Anytime a kid needed to pay a fee, he would take it. I found out about it and told admin that he was holding on to money. He did not want me to take uni's home to wash them. Like anyone else would. Gave me the willies.

One day he called in to work-mumbled to the principal that he was sick and would not be in. Later that day-found out that his step-daughter shot him in the face with one of the .22's under the couch. Because he was doing inappropriate things to her. It was on the news.

He did not do anything to any of our students. Thank God. I am all for background checks.

Yeah as soon as I come around the corner into the dining room I seen him standing with the pistol and her dead in the chair tied up..as I was about to tell him to drop his pistol he said sorry and killed himself..probably 5 feet in front of me

Last 4th of July weekend my wife and I planned a weekend away at our little escape place in Ft Meyers. Out of the blue the girl who hooked my wife and I up 25 years ago called and said her and her husband where in Florida. She said her husbands best friends wife was murdered. They got a room at the same hotel as us and another couple (who is also from MO, and went to school with us). We partied the whole weekend, went to 4th of July celebrations, and watched fireworks. They stayed for the funeral and then went back to Missouri. A couple months after that my wife told me that our friends husband was arrested in Missouri and charged in his best friends wifes murder. Then a guy who lived close to him was arrested and charged, and finally the lady who got murdereds husband was arrested. I can believe the guy killed this lady then went back home and came back to Florida immediately and went to her funeral, and tried to console her kids etc. The guy was a pretty laid back guy who you would never expect this from, but he did it.

It seems like he put you at risk there. I presume you called the police, and then they come to see you alone in a house with two dead people with gunshot wounds, one of whom is tied up. I'm guessing the police pointedly asked you to explain your presence.

Yes I called the police after I checked to see if anyone was still alive but it was obvious they both died instantly..checked the rest of the house while on the phone..went outside and waited on the cops..pulled my pistol and cleared it laid it on the ground..they asked me questions for a couple hours showed them the texts to prove I was there because of invite and no knowledge of anything..they cut me loose and I rode home
