A good deal, but they don't fly to/from Vegas every day of the week. Plus a 3+ hour drive to the airport doesn't appeal to me.

As seeing how this trip is over a year away, potentially. As far as what days we're there we are both completely flexible. I went to Vegas last September. Stayed at Mandalay Bay for free. I don't need that this time -- nothing AS nice. Just been thinking about Vegas the past 3-4 months. It's all I can think about and last time I was there I really didn't do a whole lot because my friends were there for a work convention. |

If you are looking to stay downtown, Priceline is the way to go. The Golden Nugget is the only 4-star property there, so if your bid is accepted, then you are getting the GN. Like I said, I got 3 nights at $65 per night. So $195 total pre tax/fees where it would normally cost $277.

Right now -- I've gotten quotes from Allegiant Air (I know prices fluctuate) for around $220 round trip. I'm thinking I'll book the flight and hotel seperately. I'd prefer to stay on the new strip as opposed to the old strip. However, depending on the prices, I wouldn't rule out staying in the old strip. |

I always end up going TO the strip at least once to walk up/down, but prefer to play and stay downtown. |

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it. I have players cards at most of the casinos but never spent much time downtown, so don't really get any great deals there. The Nugget was the only place I really wanted to stay, so I was thrilled to get it at that price.

Cool. Fremont is old but it's nice to be in that pace some times. You staying in the new tower at the Nugget? I hear it's nice. We stay in the old section so we can kick up a cigarette if we want to.

At that price, I'm sure it's the old (Carson) tower. The Rush tower is quite a bit more expensive. I usually ask for a free upgrade where ever we stay though, so you never know.

From the guys who have stayed on the new strip...
What hotel or hotels are generally the least expensive to stay at? |

Stay away from the Riviera, Circus Circus and the Stratosphere (North Strip). They may be quite a bit cheaper options, but there isn't much within walking distance from those properties. On the south part of the strip, Harrah's and Flamingo are probably your cheapest options. Maybe Bill's Gambling Hall too.

On your first trip stay upstrip, go downstrip to Fremont District one night to look around and see Vegas as it was back in the day.
