The finishing is the most time consuming aspect and companies are only concerned with the bottom line. Fortunately, I have an amazing luthier to cut bone nuts and dress frets because regardless of the brand, they're unplayable out of the box which makes them unrecordable as well. |

It sounds really great. They have their own preamp and it sounds like a much more expensive one. Even has an adjustable midrange control. You can dial in a pretty natural tone. And it has a nice tuner that responds really well.

There is at least one exception though. Lakland basses, even the Indonesian ones, are pleked at the Lakland factory and come setup very well. You may have to tweak the truss rod a little from the temp and humidity changes since it left the factory, but that is really all you need to do. |

I have a 62 AVRI P as well. Fantastic instrument. I bet that Heritage rig does it some real justice, too.

Just picked up an early 70s Kay SG bass copy. It's pre lawsuit, and looks amazing...won't stay in tune for shit, so I'm going to try and get some original SG bass tuners, the Kay tuners are crapola.

Did I show this one already? I don't remember. A Wing Bass. Bought it for travel, also use it while sitting watching TV. Black Limba, Hipshot headless system. It uses regular gauge bass strings, and is essentially like a 34" scale bass with the neck cut off at the 12 fret. Easy to sit and play even in a La-Z-Boy. A practice bass that also sounds pretty good with an octave pedal to give you back the lower octave.
