Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016

We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!

First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's.

So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert.

Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws.

People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game.

Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air.

Will they? Foles likes it here and it seems like QB's usually only get 1 shot at a big contract.
Not sure a team is gonna give him a big contract next offseason.

Honestly, have you seen any team come back against Pitt's high powered offense after being down 22? Even if we scored TD's, our defense was just going to lay more eggs as the game goes on...which we saw.

Our team's identity is defense, until we recover that it doesn't matter what the offense does against these high powered offenses.

Brian Hoyer and Cassel keep getting contracts.

Foles will get paid by a desperate team.

Cutting/trading Alex after this year saves the team 10m in cap space...Foles cap hit is about 10m if the team takes the option.

Coincidence?

Nonsense. Any handful of top QBs would've won the Super Bowl with last year's defense. And it wouldn't have been the D that won it, it would've been the QB.

The real issue is QB. Same thing it's been for well over a decade and most of this franchise's existence.

I can't believe that Reid folded up the tent at 22 to 0 when the game was still in the first quarter. Still plenty of time to get back in the game but you can't stick to the playbook as you had it mapped out at 0 to 0. I like Reid, but this is ridiculous.

You think Avant in his last NFL season, Wilson, and Conley as a rookie were being held back by Alex Smith in the playoffs? with Maclin out of the picture, Kelce was getting double teamed all day by the Pats. ware wasn't even in that game after his injury against the texans. Thus we got butter fingers Davis taking carries..

You see, it's ignorant comments on this level of idiocy that gets you morons on ignore lists.

Smith wasn't playing sharp but you have to also look at the fact that receivers/backs were dropping balls. And our O-line went back to 2014 level of bad. 22-0 on the road, rainy conditions.. the game was over after 6 major team miscues. It hurts as a fan, but you have to look at it as if its one game and its only the beginning of the season. Pitt learned their lesson against the Eagles, no reason that we shouldn't be able to.

4th year in the system. Let's check those stats.

2nd in completions
4th in attempts
16th in completion percentage
12th in yards
26th in TD%
28th in Y/A
31st in Y/C (thank you for starting, Cody Kessler)
19th in NFL rating
29th in QBR
24th in sack percentage
33rd in net yards gained per passing attempt

Yes, it's a brand new statistic for Alex to be dead last in! HUZZAH!

Tom Brady has been throwing to receivers like that for years. The last time he had a legitimate WR, they didn't lose a game until the SB.

Thing is GoChiefs you can go down that list and only find 14 guys you'd definitively take over Smith at this point.

So, he's still above average QB in the league and that supposedly is enough to win a SB.

Or something.

Ok, I'll bite.

To the bolded, I ask - why?

Because some of them throw *gasp* INT's?

After watching this shit show for 4 years, you're going to have to be a goddamn magician to convince me that turnovers hurt you any more than being ultra conservative.

Alex Smith has 16 rushing yards this year. What's up with that? Are his legs about ready to give out?
