Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016

We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!

First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's.

So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert.

Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws.

People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game.

Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air.

That's a point that's consistently glossed over after the fact. Defenders are responding to the QB, so if a QB commits to one area, people come free in another area as the defenders drop routes.

1) Shit play call.

2) Awful throw. If Smith has any sort of injury to the throwing arm, this would be an example of it.

3) ... he should have trusted West to make something out of the play. Without seeing a higher angle he probably would have gotten smoked for a short gain but that's still better than eating a sack.

4) Awful. Fault Schwartz for getting his ass kicked by Watt more than the throw though. Not like you can have any faith on Smith ever hitting anyone that far downfield on a good day, anyway.

If Schwartz doesn't get handled the better play would have been hitting Harris as he dragged to the near SL. Good chance he gets a decent chunk of yards and stops the clock at the expense of 10 seconds. Take maybe one shot to get closer into Santos' range if possible. Really, they were ****ed in that scenario without a successful trick play or some heroics and fluke luck (as in a Texans DB collides with a teammate or gets American Snipered by the apparently shite turf) on a downfield catch and run.

5) He doesn't trust Wilson. At all. If that were Maclin he'd have at least forced one in thinking the worst that could happen was an incomplete and a clock stoppage.

6) Second piece of evidence that his elbow's hurt.

7 & 8) Smith isn't the type of QB who can make that throw nor would he take the chance to begin with. Even Mav would agree with this.

9) Busted play + turf monster.

10) Rodgers is just about the only guy you'd think could make that throw.

Hey Claynus. Aaron Rodgers looked pretty shitty last night too losing at Minnesota. Why don't you go over there and post 10 gifs on him screwing up. Because I guarantee you, he had at least 10 screw ups last night.

On the Ware missed TD, Alex was looking at the 3 receivers at the bottom. Looked like he was trying to go to one of them. When he turned his head towards Ware it was too late.

And I would be willing to bet if you went to Packer message boards, the posters wouldnt be finding excuse after excuse to justify Rodgers performance last night. He played poorly. Period.

-The offensive line didnt give him any time
-There were drops
-we couldnt run the ball
-lineman would have batted the throw down if he attempted the pass
