Kccrow,Direckshun,RunKC,Talking Can,Pest,Sacc, need your takes.......

I recently posted a comment in the forum in reference to the action or lack thereof of Dorsey prior to his drafts these last 2 yrs. You fellas follow college football like no other on this board and really seem to know players(strengths, weaknesses and whether they would fit our system). IMHO Dorsey likes holding his cards really close to the vest meaning that no one saw the Ford or Peters pick coming at least I didn't, and there was no talk or even rumors about these guys if I remember correctly becoming Chiefs although we had needs at both positions. I get that it's Poker Time for many teams and GMs right now but I really believe Dorsey wears his Poker Face at all times as he should. My question to you guys is who do you think he might be targeting given his baseline pre-draft behavior from the 2013-2014 drafts which I feel is very accurate of how he approaches the draft this year?

I can't remember his name, but Dorsey went to work out a corner a week or so ago that had a ton of PBUs in college and reminds me of Phillip Gaines a little.

I think he's gonna be our second round pick I'd he's still on the board when we pick.

No way.

Morse is this teams center for the next decade.

Kalan Reed. Very similar prospect to Gaines, so I think you might be right.

That's the guy.

Seems exactly like the type of corner Dorsey covets.

Yea they're eerily similar. From the height/weight/speed all the way to the high PBU totals (demonstrates their ability to make a play on the ball).

Wouldn't be shocked at all if he's our 2nd rounder (assuming we pass or miss out on the top corners in the 1st).

I think you have to consider the "interests list" pretty heavily. Dorsey took 3 off the reported interest list put out by Arrowhead Pride last year. He took a couple the year before. I'd pay attention to who the Chiefs spend the most time with the last 3 weeks prior to the draft.

I think the Chiefs have legitimate interest in Vernon Butler and William Jackson III. Both fit the scheme and future or immediate needs. Not sure if either will actually be available at 28 at this point, especially Jackson.

Looking at CB's, don't get caught up on arm length. Peters only had 31.5" arms. Speed isn't a huge issue, look more for 4.55 or less. Look more for overall size in the 5'11" to 6'1" range, really good hip transition, solid play off of press, and aggressiveness playing the football.

I think LeShaun Sims, CB, Southern Utah is going to be up there on the list. His measurements, play style, and so forth all look just like Marcus Peters. I think if you read their scouting reports from NFL.com, they are damn near mirror images. Watching them on tape, they are very similar. Peters probably played the ball a bit better in college and he definitely faced much better competition, but they are similar players. So, I think if you're looking at the Chiefs 4th round pick, this guy is on the list.

So far on the offensive line, its looked more like Dorsey running the show than Andy Reid. I don't expect a guy like Cody Whitehair or Germain Ifedi to go to the Chiefs in round 1. I would expect it with Reid, I just don't with Dorsey. I'd look for mid-round tackles that project well to guard. Guys like Connor McGovern, Isaac Seumalo, and Joe Dahl come to mind.

Receivers, I look at what Ried likes, and its primarily guys that can make something happen once they get the ball in their hands. Guys like Corey Coleman, Tyler Boyd, Will Fuller, Braxton Miller, Rashard Higgins, Sterling Shepherd, Pharoh Cooper, Daniel Braverman, Quenton Bundrage, and Malcolm Mitchell come to mind. I think any one from that bunch would be a 2nd round pick for the Chiefs, except Coleman who probably will be off the board before KC picks at 28 but would definitely be in the discussion there.

I'm not ruling out Kentrell Brothers, honestly, in the 1st round (he won't be there when the Chiefs pick in round 2 by any stretch). The guy didn't time well, but you watch him play and he's on point. You can tell Brothers studies tape and is passionate about the game, and that is BIG for Dorsey. Brothers instantly reads plays and he's always moving to the football. With DJ so long in the tooth and the lack of a true heir at this point, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Brothers come off the board earlier than pundits expect.

I'm not ruling out Vonn Bell either. I know safety isn't a prominent need, but the Chiefs play a lot of nickel coverage. Also, would Dorsey take Bell to take over for Berry? I think it is certainly possible.

I don't expect a pass rusher at all. I think Dorsey will kick some tires and he'll probably add at least one in the draft, but I don't expect that player to come in round 1. I think there would have to be one hell of a value there for Dorsey to bite.

I mentioned it before, I don't expect offensive line. I don't see Dorsey taking a guard at 28 and he doesn't need a starting tackle.

Like every GM practically, they draft for next year. The top positions needing addressing at this point are DL, SS, ILB, and CB in terms of contracts, age, and starting skill.

My top-10 list of 1st round expectations (not necessarily in the order I have them listed) at this point are as follows:

1. Vernon Butler, DT, Louisiana Tech
2. William Jackson III, CB, Houston
3. Vonn Bell, SS, Ohio State
4. Kentrell Brothers, ILB, Missouri
5. Austin Johnson, DT, Penn State
6. Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
7. Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame
8. Noah Spence, DL/OLB, Western Kentucky
9. Artie Burns, CB, Miami
10. Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh

I'll probably tweak this list a bit through the final few weeks.

Chiefs are down a starting CB prior to the 2016 draft, tried to retain Sean Smith, tried to rope in Casey Hayward, and that didn't work out. CB is almost certainly at the top of our list.

That said, Dorsey also drafts for future need. In 2017, Poe and Berry are both up for contracts. Fisher's up, too, I believe. The Chiefs will tag Poe if they have to, but it's possible they go with a stud safety to replace Berry, unpopular as that may be.

The Chiefs do have gaping needs at WR and OL, and don't count out OL. But the WR depth is atrocious this year, and the team really does like Albert Wilson/Chris Conley. Don't expect WR until deep in the Draft. It's entirely possible they draft a LT that they think could slide in at guard, much as we'd hate that. But it'd fill a need, and provide insurance in case Fisher moved on in 2017.

I'll let Crow project players, as he's fresher on this than I am this year, but the positions I'd project us drafting:

1. CB
2. CB
3. CB
4. OT/G
5. S
Thx a ton fellas. Great analysis as always.
