Geno Smith vs Alex Smith - It's on.

It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

Put your ten pounders on the table and make a vote

Alex: 11 wins
Geno: 8 wins

You are a butthurt idiot that is crying because you didn't get your way (even though your way was STUPID). Geno Smith was not a first round QB, and it would have been FOOLISH to take him 1.1, yet that is exactly what you STILL think we should have done. And you would rather have a "homegrown" failure than a successful "retread". As I said, embarrassment.

Yes I would have liked to have Geno Smith but it didn't have to be him we could have looked at next years draft but not give up picks for Alex ****ing Smith. He is the mediocre quarterback I referred too.

Just because I like Geno Smith doesn't mean it had to be Geno Smith to make me happy. There are other quarterbacks and if none of them were worth it take the best one and count on taking one in next years draft.

This isn't rocket science just take a chance and start developing prospects. Take another chance in next years and start developing him and again the next year if it comes to that. ****ing A grow a set of balls and pick a quarterback.

Alex Smith is my sandbox kryptonite.

It's really quite ironic.

And look who my QB is.

It's like the football universe is mocking me.

WTF is the problem with being competitive while also looking for a young QB? People keep saying "well you get stuck in the middle and never get a shot at said QB!" and that's just not true. They point to the 90's Chiefs as though the Chiefs ever made a play for a young QB at all.

The problem wasn't that they never had a chance at one - it's that they never even tried.

This regime looked dangerously close to that and when they wouldn't even use a !@#$ing 7th rounder on Tyler Bray, I was damn worried they'd be the same. But y'know what? They went out and got him. And Bray has as much raw talent as anyone to come out in the draft this year. That's some pretty exciting stuff.

Now lets go win some damn football games and watch this kid develop into the stud his talent says he can be. Even if he sits for 3 seasons, he'll be 24 when he gets his first starting gig. Time is on our side here.
I think it's easy to want to suck when we've sat around and witnessed that work out for damn near every other franchise. It sucks that when we finally bottom out, there's no pretty prize sitting there and people are frustrated.

I do agree though about Bray but I just can't get too worked up about him quite yet. Like you said in another thread, these talent evaluators and gms know tons more than I do, and for a qb in today's nfl to go undrafted, chances of him working out are sketchy.

Now, I don't think there is ever going to be an Andrew luck or john elway available outside the top 2 picks, but good qbs can be had later in the first

What do you expect? He grew up in San Diego rooting for the Padres. They have been a base to base team for YEARS.

I'd obviously like to take him down next week.

But at the same time, a small part of me loves watching him soldier bravely forward in Sandbox. Should Alex D. Smith send Clearwater home before they get a chance to defend their Sandbox title, I'll take some solace in Alex's success...

Holy shit, this is so unrealistic. Was the difficulty set to rookie if that is relevant in this case?

If he goes for 260 yards and 2 td's, no picks this season I will probably shit myself.

Then again, Matt Cassel threw for 4 td's in a game so...

Smith's "success" is yet to be seen. And one thing you had better get in to your head is that his ceiling for success does not include hoisting a Lombardi in a Chiefs uniform.

For the record I am butthurt we didn't draft a quarterback in the first round with our top 1.1 pick or that we could have used our 2.2 pick for a quarterback and used our 1.1 pick for BAPRT. Giving up picks for Alex Smith hell yes I'm butthurt. Did not want Alex Smith to begin with. I thought it would be a typical Carl Peterson dick move it we traded for Alex Smith and guess what? We did just that. So yeah I am butthurt over the Alex Smith trade.

Ok. I'm not going get over it anytime soon either.

Teams don't plan to pick in the top 2 - it just happens. Nobody saw the Chiefs as a 2 win team and damn sure nobody figured the Colts as a 1 win team.

Ending up in the top 3 picks in a year where there are legitimate HOF caliber QBs available is going to be luck more often than it isn't.

Go out there, compete, try to make the playoffs and get hot. All the while you should have your eyes towards the next QB if you don't already have one that's a top 5 guy.

If you plan to fail - you're going to. A lot.

How is realizing your franchises never-ending pattern of FAIL when it can not or will not being "butthurt"?

reerunation.

I completely agree, do your best. It's just that we don't pick Qb's in the draft, at least not early so what's there to hope for if we suck horribly? Another band-aid? It's a vicious cycle.
