I love playing Bach, he understood finger placement and his voice leading is epic. I am more of a classical guitar player but I am learning the Anna Magdalena Notebook pieces along with memorizing other short "Greatest Hits" pieces by guys like Beethoven, Haydn, Debussy, Satie, etc. Dived back into Hanon to try to get my hands to work better. Takes my mind off stress and pain.

On a somewhat related (percussion) note, Danny Carey > Neil Peart

I wish I understood keyboards better.
Honestly I can't tell a great player from a good one. |

I remember when I was a kid, my folks had me taking piano lesson from this old lady down the street - she had like 30 students around my age. One day she took us to the philharmonic hall and told us to pay close attention. I don't remember the Piano master who played (geez, I was 11) but they did Peer Gynt (Edvard Grieg) and finished with Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor.
That show blew me away. Never heard anyone so damned amazing in my young life. I vowed I would keep taking lessons. They faded away, but Grieg has always stuck with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKfGDqXEFkE |
