2014-2015 NHL Offseason/Regular Season Thread
Free Agency starts today. I'm probably the worst candidate to keep up an OP with player movement and the like, but figured it would be cool to have a repository for all things NHL leading up to next season.

Anaheim acquires Kesler from Canucks for Bonino, Sbisa, and picks.

-Dallas acquires Spezza from Montreal for Chiasson, others, and a 2nd round pick.
-Avs acquire Briere for Parenteau and a late pick.
-Predators acquire James Neal for Spaling and Hornqvist.
-Marian Gaborik re-signs with Kings.
-Ryan Miller to Canucks via UFA.
-Paul Stastny to the Blues via UFA.
-Jarome Iginla to the Avs via UFA.
-Dan Boyle to the NYR.
-Brad Richards to the Blackhawks.
-Vanek to the Minnesota Wild.
-Robidas to the Maple Leafs.
-Niskanen to the Caps via UFA.

Feel free to add other moves and I'll do my best to update.

Things are really heating up now. Check out some of these current first round matches:

Eastern Conference
Bruins (Last WC) at Rangers
Capitals (First WC) at Canadiens
Penguins at Islanders
Red Wings at Lightning

Western Conference
Kings (Last WC) at Ducks
Wild (First WC) at Blues
Hawks at Preds
Flames at Canucks

The Eastern teams are pretty settled right now, although the Sens are just 5 points back. There's just shuffling for position.

The West is insane. Winnipeg is the odd team out now, just a point behind LA, who could miss the playoffs or finish 2nd and host the first round.

I was at the Kings game last night. Scrapped out a 1-0 win against Arizona. Not impressive.

I still think they'll find a way and be a pain in the ass come playoff time, but people are starting to wonder about this unit.

I think the fact that the Blues didn't get a power play was offset by the fact that they got a ridiculous second goal that for some reason I will never understand: counted.

Reeves went right through the blue paint, unprovoked, and barreled over Fleury as Goc slid the puck in.

Didn't see it, but goaltender interference seriously needs some help lately. Lots of iffy calls both ways.

The Frozen Four tournament has to be the best kept secret in sports... just watched Miami (OH) score 3 goals with the EN to get within 6-5, including an unbelievable save on the EN.

UNO being a part of it is nice, too, since I've had season tickets for the past several years.

Lightning gonna win the cup this year. Blues may never win it. After all the stacked teams they had in my youth they couldn't manage. Bastards broke my heart many times. I've traded my bad Blues memories in to ride the lightning many years ago. Was a good decision.
