*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I was going to suggest the same thing. What routine are you running now (something RPE based?) and what does your eating habits look like?

Essential no, but I use them since I train mostly fasted. Supposed to prevent catabolism in this state although that can be debated too. I personally just like the taste too as there are some really awesome tasting ones out there.

If you are getting enough protein you really don't need them, however. Especially if your meal timing is within a few hours of training.

I don't run RPE anymore. I tried it, but it's just not for me. I found it too hard to maintain intensity. I need those weight goals. My problem has always been that I *can* do more than I *think* I can. So, when I'm supposed to go 9.5, I'm probably more at like an 8-8.5. It's not until I get that weight on the bar and I'm under it that I really get that "Oh ****, I've really got to move this weight now" kind of feeling. Some people love it, though, and can do really well with it.

As far as diet, it's pretty much just as low fat as possible during the week, with two nights out on the weekends to eat whatever. During the week, I'll fast most of the day. Grill up some chicken breasts or low fat fish like Cod, Halibut, or Mahi Mahi. And I'll eat fruit in unlimited quantities. Maybe a protein shake before I go to bed, or if I wake up unbearably hungry, I'll have a shake in the morning right after waking. And lots of black coffee. I don't track calories or macros or anything anymore. I just know that if I keep the fat low, I can eat lean protein and fruit in unlimited quantities and keep my abs visible and make gainzz at the same time.

I want something like a Prowler that will survive on asphalt. Anyone have any experience on one used on the street and how long the skis last before wearing out? Any cheap Prowler knockoffs?

I have had the econo-prowler from EliteFTS for years, ski's are still fine. I didn't know they had issues with them. Only gripe is its loud as ****.

Thanks! I think I am going to try the early morning fasting. Sometimes I train at noon so either fast and slam BCAA before that, or maybe cream of rice mixed with whey & coconut oil, which was my pre-workout meal when I was on 5/3/1 all those years. I also read that BCAA taken in large doses (I think they said 10g or so) is the way to go? You hear anything like that before?

What's the econo mean? I would only be using it in the afternoons but how loud is loud? My neighbors already hate me for my loud car.

The dentist I bought my practice from was beginning to have a shingles outbreak. I talked him into letting me hit it with the laser I have in the office for grafting and such.

The next day his shingles were gone. Same with cold sores.

Injury, illness, kids schedule... Way too many excuses.

Only valid excuse in my mind are these shingles. Can't move without pain.

Have to get back on track once the crazyness of the holidays is done with.
Goal is to have a six pack for first time in my life. Going to be hard to give up eating as much as I do!
