It's all cyclical.

That's why most of us find the "SEC SEC" chant so hilarious.

8 years is a long cycle . . . .

Funny thing is with the creation of the 'playoff' and SEC Network launch, the gap may begin to widen even more. SEC already gets the majority of the top recruits in the country. Now with the SEC schools each pulling in more revenue and getting much more national media exposure, kids (and parents) will want to come to the SEC to play ball even more . . . . .

Could be looking at a 10 to 15 year run of dominance, instead of 8. Will be interesting to watch.

The Big 12 had its time… Nebraska, Oklahoma and UT all took home the title in a span of a decade… the SEC had it's time. Now apparently it's the Pac-10's turn.

Former Auburn coach Gene Chizik joining SEC Network as analyst

BY SI WIRE

Former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik is joining the SEC Network as a studio analyst, Chizik told USA Today.

Chizik coached Auburn to three bowl victories and the BCS National Championship in 2010, but was fired after a 3-8 season in 2012. He is already co-host of a radio show on SiriusXM.

"Being with ESPN and Sirius/XM, I'm really excited about that and I want to be the best at what I do with TV and radio and being a part of the media," Chizik said to USA Today.

The 52-year-old will primarily appear on the network on Monday and Tuesday nights.

Chizik did not say if he's considering going back into coaching. He has a career record of 38-38 record in six seasons with Iowa State and Auburn.

WOW. Mizzery getting shredded by ESPN:

Victims Of Inaction

An Outside the Lines investigation reveals how multiple women became victims of violence by former Missouri tailback Derrick Washington.

Tags: NCF, Missouri Tigers
Updated: August 21, 2014,

Teresa Braeckel, center, followed in father Joe's footsteps by attending Missouri.

Just six weeks later, another woman would accuse Washington of sexually assaulting her. She said she was asleep in her bed when Washington came in and put his finger in her vagina. Teresa Braeckel reported the incident to police nearly immediately, and police opened an investigation.

While police were investigating, Washington was named one of four captains of the football team and sent to Dallas to represent the school at Big 12 media days. In September 2011, a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting Braeckel, and a judge sentenced him to five years in prison.

It's a bad look for Mike Alden and his leadership. I know R. Bowen Loftin's patience for this type of information has already worn thin. And yes, this is something that happened in the past, before the changes Loftin and Tim Wolfe, the system president, put into place across the entire UM system.

But considering that Alden tries to sell his department as being squeaky clean (because let's be honest, his department has a lot of good/very good programs but doesn't have a lot of EXCELLENCE in programs) and his initial interviews with Loftin surely highlighted those types of things (compliance, graduation rates, grades)...

Alden has got to be on the hot seat. I'm sure Loftin didn't enjoy his first 8-9 months on the job featuring Mizzou athletes in the news around a dozen times for various, serious behavioral issues.

Loftin spoke yesterday and said an internal investigation - that included speaking with the soccer player who was reportedly threatened with a yanked scholarship if she filed assault charges against Washington - refuted the allegations surrounding the incident with the soccer player (who is long graduated and gone and has little incentive to protect the AD at this point). But the rest of the new allegations are still highly troubling.
