The Unpopular Thread

It ain't all Alex' fault. And it's not all Andy's fault. You don't want to hear that but it is true. We won our division with smoke and mirrors.

We had the worst running game and couldn't stop anyone from running on us. We are deficient on both lines and our running backs are below average. Had we made it past the Steelers, our train would have surely stopped in New England.

Only the top echelon of QB's could have overcome those deficiencies.

Truth is, we need help on the lines more than anything, followed by a quality running back. Spencer Ware has as much vision as Mr. Magoo. If somehow a top RB falls to us at 27, it will be tough to pass them up.

I want a QB as much as the next guy and I'm sure we'll get one SOMEWHERE in the draft, but we better address the lines too.

I still have to believe berry screwed up the coverage on that bomb with Houston covering. There was a safety to the right yet berry went over there and left Houston on his own...with brown. Even if it's peters shouldn't you cover brown?

The whole team failed. We can focus our anger on that last drive but the whole team, coaches included, got what they had coming. Fart around for most of the game and then claim one call screwed you? That's being blind.

This team had a chance to compete with anyone when it had its shit together. All year people worried about it being inconsistent, and it played out. Andy made crucial decisions as was the concern. Smith gave up on routes or didn't process through them. Didn't run the ball.

Sutton calls a bend but don't break defensive play on the biggest play of the season. The biggest play of the season because reid and Smith sucked all the time of the clock yet again. Wilson and kelce with drops. The sad part being that it really isn't that surprising that kelce dropped the ball. Man, either of them catch the ball....ugh.

It was a disaster. From that beautiful drive on, the chiefs slowly cost themselves a decent chance. I tend to lean pessimistic, but after we scored the td I truly believed we were a legit contender to beat ne. I'm depressed, angry, and somehow also accepting that this franchise went out this way.

Houston didn't execute because he couldn't cover brown for 4 seconds? How many did we rush. Is that where you want Houston with the season on the line?

Smith did not shine... drops, lack of running game etc etc etc, none of that would've kept a true winner from winning

Houston lined up opposite a WR, then followed him all the way down the field. Houston is much bigger and much slower than Brown. How was that a good call? How would Houston execute that when he is so much slower?

Well said... I'm a little calmer now and realistically, the game never should have come down to a penalty. If the offense had kept drives alive longer and put pressure on Pittsburgh to score, the game might have been different.

Oh well, ifs and buts aren't candy and nuts.

What do I know anyway? I pick them to be 7-9 pretty much every year. The glass is full of piss.

They were honing in on Houston and Ford on the outside all game. It was a great call to collapse the middle, and Ramik/Tamba had an open lane up the middle.

They ran into each other and fell down which ruined the play....because Chiefs.

It completely surprised them and it should have been a sack

Absolute 100% grade A BULLSHIT. If Wilson catches the TD we win. If Kelse catches the long pass we win. Alex Smith wasn't perfect (who expects perfection?) but he was good enough to win.

Exactly... When I saw it, I could have sworn I saw a Pittsburgh player trip one of them and then they both went down in a heap as Rottenburger stepped to the side and threw the pass.

He wasn't expected to cover Brown on either play. The pass rush didn't hit home and the coverage got exposed. On the final one, it took a blatant Pitt hold to expose the coverage. The first our defenders flukely tripped over each other costing an easy sack and three points .

On the long one he lined up against Brown. They may have thought the blitz would get there first, or that the safety would help, but he was left to cover Brown by himself. So how is that "not expected to cover Brown"? He ran 40 yards by himself chasing Brown. It was amazing he made there in time to tackle him.

I'll call BULLSHIT on that. If either one of those guys had scored the only thing it would have meant was we had scored some more. The way the Steelers were controlling the ball, they had it for like 59 mins of the game, they would have more than likely scored again. Alex smith wasn't good enough to win that game, he was below average for a QB outside of the first drive and a few plays here and there the rest of the game.

We lost by 2 points. A TD is worth 6 points. Do the math.
