I think he means that if you can't figure out a way to hit Kyle ****ing Gibson when you're in a "playoff race", then you shouldn't be saying you're a playoff team, which the Royals seem to think they are.

what are there? About 8 teams fighting for that last wild card spot?
that means we have to have the best record out of like 8 teams the rest of the way out to get a 1 game playoff game our odds are like 13%, tops don't we know better as Kansas City fans? Please, please, please, please sell Shields/Holland/whoever else |

What's worse is that Detroit has lost 4 in a row now, including tonight.
White Sux smoked them. |

Andy and Ned got into it in the postgame about plate discipline, with Ned concluding that the guys are naturally aggressive and that there's "nothing that can be done about it."

And that's an excuse to cover for Dayton Moore and the players he drafted. There IS something that can be done about it, and that's finding actual hitters who aren't reeruns.

Remember when teams brought in peeps to rebuild a team, and they were damn good at it, but then the team had to get rid of them and bring in a Proven winner to get the team over the hump? Nah, me either |

A lot of managers do that. There are things to criticize Ned for but I don't think that's one of them. A lot of coaches in every sport do that. It's just the way it is, unless you're a loose cannon like Ozzie Guillen.

Ned's right. Once guys get to the major leagues, doing what they've been trained to do throughout the minors, they're very unlikely to change. This organization, from top to bottom, has been old school baseball. "Be aggressive" has been our organizational mantra for 2 decades or more. I'm sure Duncan has the stats stored away somewhere that proves our allergy to walks historically. The problem is that if you're not going to hit for power, you don't walk and you don't strike out ---- that simply says you're getting yourself out putting pitcher's pitches in play. It's as if we give out trophies to guys who are able to put bad pitches in play. Not everyone can be Vlad Guerrero.
