Trading Eric Berry

I think it might be time to evaluate what we could net in a trade for Eric Berry.

The Chiefs will probably be happy to part with Berry and his likely $9m/year contract demands if they can replace him with someone cheaper who does his job just as well in Ron Parker.

If we were to trade Eric Berry for a draft pick, what do you think he would net? I believe he could net a 2nd rounder + another pick.

If we were to trade Berry for a player, what do you think he would net?

I think he could net us a very productive, Pro Bowl caliber WR that a team is looking to move away from.

The obvious candidates, to my mind, are Pierre Garcon, Marques Colston, and of course Vincent Jackson.

Keep in mind that Eric Berry is 25.

Garcon is 28 years old, and look at these stats over the past year and a half: 156 receptions for over 1,800 yards. He's the kind of smart route-runner that Alex Smith loves throwing to. The Redskins might not be interested in paying him after having to pay DeSean Jackson (just a guess).

Colston is 31, so I like that idea less... Over the past year and a half, he's had 109 receptions the past year and a half for over 1,300 yards.

Vincent Jackson is 31 and the most expensive of the bunch, but he's had 120 receptions over the past year and a half for nearly 1,800 yards.

I don't like the return on any of those guys, I'd rather keep Berry. Are there better ones you can think of?

I can't see them dumping Bowe in 2015.

That's scorching the earth at WR, and I don't think the Chiefs want to do that.

Are you serious?

I'll ask you one more time and I'd like an answer: What game changing ability has Eric Berry brought to the #1 pass defense the past two games?
I never called you a simpleton. I called the idiots who can't form their own opinions simpletons.

We could sign three productive WR's for what Bowe's making.

I don't want to see Hali go but he'll need to take a big pay cut to stay...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I agree, though, not everybody can stay. I think DJ and Hali go, from the players you mentioned.
And it's not like Ron Parker is going to break the bank, ffs, the guy isn't going to get a contract larger than Abdullah.

Hudson isn't going to break the bank either and Bowe will have to restructure no matter what.

I think that two is probably more likely.

Avery's earning $4 million a year and I wouldn't want three of him on the roster.

I have some difficulty believing that Berry would agree to an $8 million dollar extension knowing he could probably get $10 million elsewhere.

I agree that DJ and Tamba will go. I think They will get rid of Bowe after next year. Can't see is getting rid of our only WR worth a damn with no experience there.

Having said that, if I had to trade him for a player, it would be Randall Cobb. I would do it after they sign him.

I think that's fair and would be great for both teams

Problem with trading berry for another player is your gonna have to take on another big contract, the main reason you're moving on from him.

Picks would be my guess.

I heard that Cobb is a F/A after this season.
