It has a 89 rating on metacritic...impressive. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/battlefield-1

I played the campaign a bit when I first got it. Kept thinking "WTF?!? There is no way I'm going to survive this shit........oh, I'm not supposed to survive it."

Overall - great game. Haven't gotten to deep into the campaign, but I enjoyed what I played. Love the MP. Tons of fun.

Ok... I'm sold. I bought this yesterday even though I told myself to wait. However, I love all things WWI.
They got a lot right regarding the campaign. It needs to be MUCH longer. (Only about 5-6 hrs) I'm sure something will come up via DLC.

That being said, they got a lot wrong to appease the COD idiots. Silencers were around at this time but they were the size of a 1 liter bottle.
Sniper rifles existed but they were not that accurate at 1/4 mile.
They did do it justice, though. Hopefully COD fanboys will learn a little something about the ugliest, most brutal war ever fought.

Bought an xboxone s last week with the BF1 bundle. Have not been able to spend as much time with it as I would have liked life has been busy but I did the phase of the campaign in the air with the blimps and it was awesome. Dipped my toe in the multiplayer waters a bit but its pretty overwhelming at first. Been reading up on it a bit at work and looking forward to spending some more time with it.

Is the entrenching tool the best weapon for trench raids? If not then it isn't historically accurate.

The melee weapons are standardized into a couple of groups.. So knife type weapons faster/less damage, club types stronger/slower etc

I like the trench tool the best out of all the melee weapons. It has the most brutal melee kills and is in the 'high power/slow' melee type.

The beginning is kinda cheesy but they do get into the different types of melee weapons used in trench raids:

I might just say screw it and buy this today after work.
it's been probably 3 years since I played BF3 - which I absolutely loved and was my first MP online experience. quite playing after the hacks/cheese/boosters totally over ran everything. but up to that point, had so much fun with that game.

probably take me a while to re-acquire what little FPS i had attained.

It's a mode where the Attacking team has to capture zones while moving forward along the map. Once they do, they get to keep those zones forever, and the defending team then moves back.

The game keeps going until the attackers are defeated 3 times. So if attack gets half the map on the first try, they have 2 more attempts to get the rest of the map.

Also if the attackers get the whole map before they've failed 3 times, the game moves on to another map and you keep going.
