The draft and start a QB crowd was advocating a strategy that hasn't been attempted in earnest since 19****ing83. Why not just try it? Just this ****ing once? That was the argument.

No, Brodie Croyle was not a serious attempt.

I was completely on board the, let's draft a QB high bandwagon. But, I guess when I looked at the field, and saw nothing special, I wasn't willing to go with the, any and all other plan sucks, crowd.

I think because, in the last 2 years, there isn't a QB that I wish we had instead of Alex Smith. I'm not jealous of any team starting a QB that was drafted last year or this. I feel that most of the, draft a QB or nothing crowd, is very locked in despite not having a viable alternative option.

And if he's turning up his nose at $17m/per, then he can eat the heartiest of dick salads.
I stated at the time he was benched for Kap that it was a mistake and that Smith was becoming a hell of a QB. This was full half year before I knew he was coming to KC.

The posts are here to prove it.

I backed the guy before he was a Chief so I don't think I should change my stance because now he is a Chief.

I am also 100% certain had a QB we drafted a few years ago had the season Smith did last year and those numbers in the playoff game your dick would be so hard you wouldn't be able to walk.

But this completely changes things. If we had a 24 or 25-year-old QB who clearly looked to be ascending, people would absolutely be thrilled.

But Smith is 30, and we're still not entirely sure who the "real Smith" is. Is it the mediocre dude who played the first 8 games last year, or the guy who finished the season?

Russilo and SVP's fill-in pretty much agreed that non-elite QBs are worth $15 million. The Fill-in pointed out Alex as an example of a guy who a team will spend that kind of coin on. He also said "KC dominated the lines of scrimmage last year" and pointed out that JC was the focal point of the offense.

Russilo pointed out that Chase Daniel is paid double than what Andy Dalton is paid which he "doesn't understand" but would later concede that Chase's deal is the standard for backups now as well.

So, common sense...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Alex will get 14-15M a year, and no one around the league will bat an eye. In fact, they'll probably laud Dorsey for not overpaying.

It's just the cost of doing business in the modern NFL.

If Dorsey and Reid had been running the team since 1983 that would be a legitimate complaint.

I love Alex and think that he played great last year with what he had to work with, a terrible Oline, JC, a heavily covered Bowe, and one of the weakest WR corps in the league. The guys most overlooked ability is to use his legs, he extended a helluva lot of drives using his legs, keeping the D off of the field and fresh and exhausting the opponents defense to open up the passing game. If our receivers could get separation then JC wouldnt have been the target so often.

According to JC, the Chiefs are the ones who approached him for a deal starting last year.
