If you're going to ride a lot of pavement, go with a 29er. You'll do less pedaling to cover the same distance. The 27.5 bikes are targeted towards cyclists who want to bomb up and down mountains fast, as they tend to be more nimble in tight spaces. 29ers are a little more cumbersome going up hill but really smooth out the ride due to the larger wheel diameters.
