I suspect interest in this thread will drop at this point, but for what it's worth, here's the list of their top 20.

I don't get it myself. ATL? What the **** do they have? Weathers no different from the Midwest. They are not giving so much of a better deal in tax breaks. Why would top talent want to live there over 10 places on that list?

I'm confused. By corporate welfare I assume that you mean that companies are given tax and other financial incentives to locate to an area. Wouldn't that benefit those poor areas? I used to work in a window factory based in Monett, MO. They wanted to expand, so they built a new plant in a very poor area. They chose that area because of corporate welfare. The government was giving them tons of money to create jobs there. I think that the government even paid 100% of wages to start out and then phased it out over 5 years or something. However, the corporate welfare wasn't enough. Those people just didn't want to work. They couldn't keep help despite paying good wages and doing everything they could to support the plant.

There are basically three DC area locations so.. clearly that's of interest for them, it seems? Pretty damn expensive though already and I thought that was one of the requirements. I suppose no location meets them all.

It seems like a lot of the early favorites like Raleigh, Denver, Dallas, etc. are in their with basically every top 5ish US city and a few others. I mean, LA doesn't really fit most of their stated wishes much at all. It seems like this list was bloated to avoid maybe upsetting some people

This would be my guess. They probably already know who they are gonna go with.

Not sure if sarcastic, but it actually makes a lot more sense than you think. It won't make the top 5. But it makes a lot more sense than several of the cities on the list.
