They are both incredible assets now and in the immediate future. Controllable, frontline starters are worth MUCH more than one-year rental bats.

I understand the concept. I don't agree with it. I love stats more than anyone but there comes a time where you have to inject common sense. This team plays in the American League. We are allowed to start a lineup with a designatated hitter. If we were a NL team, this would be a bad move. But we are either going to let a pitcher bat, or have someone in the lineup everyday that will add no defensive value to the game, and that person should be a productive hitter.

The DH has to have a negative positional adjustment. A .750 OPS DH is not equal in value to a .750 OPS CF with average defense.

EDIT: Nvm, I found it. 6.75 ERA as a starter, 0.78 as a reliever.
