I had a strange dream just now

Don't know exactly why I'm posting this here. But hey....

Anyway, so here's the dream. Bare in mind Im kinda drowsy still so please forgive any typos..

Im watching this football documentary....and they're interviewing this grizzled veteran quarterback in what looks like a break room or small cafeteria as there are other players nearby eating and casually conversing at other tables.

The odd thing is this guy looked to be well into his late fifties and is smoking a cigarette as he speaks. Full head of grey hair and speaks with the mannerisms of a typical New York Italian mobb character from any classic mafia flick. He's also wearing army clothing...like his wardrobe was from the set of M.A.S.H.

So anyway, the guy is reminiscing on one day when he was a rookie in training camp and an older veteran player sat down next to him while he was studying the offense on his laptop. Here's what he said:

Quote:
I'm trying to learn the playbook and this old guy just pulls up a chair next to me with a cup of joe and casually shoves my laptop to the side. I go "Hey man what are you doing? Im studying plays". And then he says "None of that's important. What's important are the people you see everyday. everyone in the building...everyone on the team."

So then he starts telling me who everyone is...."'The woman at the reception desk is Susan. She just got married. The custodian's name is .." so on and so on, right? The weird thing is I was listening to every word and made an effort to get to know everybody that worked here.

The guy who was talking to me, his name was John Martinelli. They cut him the next day. They just...they cut him.
So as he mentions Martinelli getting cut he gets choked up and shoves his chair from the table to gather himself, taking a quick puff on his cigarette. The other guys in the breakroom notice him and a couple of em ask if he he's okay and he waves them off. Then one of the guys asks "Is it Martinelli?". He nods yes, puts his face in his hands and sobs a bit.

That's when I wake up.

Now, you're likely thinking the same as me. 'Why is he so emotional about a guy he barely knew?" .....but then I started thinking about those army clothes and wonder did my mind cross wires with a war movie/documentary showing a veteran soldier talking about a friend who was killed in action and some football documentary like Hard Knocks or something.

I know its strange. I know some of you have jokes ready for me lol. But I thought it was pretty deep. It moved me for some reason. Just thought I'd share.
