How to win a fantasy championship?

I'm in 1 league. Every year. Results:

2014 - 3rd
2013 - 2nd
2012 - 5th
2011 - 3rd
2010 - 6th
2009 - 4th
2008 - 9th

I have made the playoffs every season (except the first) but can never win it. Is it luck? Is is strategically picking guys for the playoffs? I want to win next year.

Taking a QB early seems to work well if you're getting a consistent guy like Rodgers, etc.

Don't fall into the RB 1st round trap either. It rarely pans out as they have them listed.

Completely luck, you could have the best team ever and one bad game in the playoffs makes you lose. Just like real football nothing is a guarantee.

I ended up with Kaepernick because some ass took Luck as his 2nd qb before I took my first. Would have screwed me today anyways.

It's all luck. Anyone that says differently is lying.

New guy this year has the highest scoring team in the league....by a lot. 1st round bye. 2nd round....his entire team tanked.

Lmao. You sound just like me this year. Had Luck stolen from me, so I took Kap much later in the draft.

Anyways, yeah it has a lot to do with luck as well as some thought and strategy. Anybody off the street can not know anything about football, and still beat a league full of football freaks. It's unfortunate, but it happens.

Hmmm, I lost my final, as Alex Smith came within one point of outperforming Drew Brees! Now thats sad! :-(

I'm done. It's complete random luck.

Started 2-2 and worked my ass off through 7 trades to go 9-1 over the last ten weeks. Averaged 110 over those ten weeks, a ton considering we play in a standard league without a flex.

Rodgers, Lacy, Foster, Green, Sanders/Alshon, Gronk, Lions, Tucker.

I'm going to lose in the final to a guy who started Crowell and Doug Baldwin.

Plus, it all comes down to schedule. You could have a great team that scores 120-130 every week, but if you end up playing everyone the week their team goes off....you're ****ed.

I'm in the same boat. I've won it all just once, but haven't finished lower than 3rd in 5 straight years. I'm looking at a 2nd place finish again this year.

If my team can hold up I will have won 4 of the last 5 years in my league. I've never finished outside of top 3.

I add/drop constantly. If you have middle tier guys on your bench, don't be afraid to drop them for someone who could potentially be a diamond in the rough.

Pay attention to what teams are doing in the pre-season. It's not a for sure thing but you can see some unexpected sleepers pop-up there.

Grab backups when the primary guy gets hurt. Even if it looks like it'll be just a week or two, it's always possible the backup becomes the stud. You want him before he breaks out. See Denver this year. Every year that happens.

See where you are strong and find people who are weak there and offer 2 for 1 trades. If you have someone really weak at WR and you offer a decent wide and a decent RB but get an upgrade at RB in return, take it. You can always refill those mid-tier guys off waivers but it's tough to get a stud unless you draft them.

Don't give up. Losing early just means you are at the top of the waivers and that is a good thing early in the season. I started 0-4 this year which has never happened before. I ended 8-5 due to trades and waiver pickups. You can always claw your way back in.

A couple weeks before playoffs, start grabbing the studs backups. I'm talking about the players that other teams should have on their bench as handcuffs. I'm currently pretty stacked at WR with Dez Bryant, Alshon Jeffrey, and Odel Beckham Jr. Who's on my bench? Knile Davis, Joseph Randle, Andre Williams, and Alfred Blue. When the guy you're playing in the playoffs has an injury like what happened with Jennings and you have his back-up, it's a very nice feeling.

I was up 25 points going into SNF's game. Lynch didn't even play most of the first half. Then he just raped with that stupid TD run and got his 100 yard bonus and I lost by 3.5 points.

I hate fantasy football. Our Champ Game is in Week 17, so I'll play the consolation game and finish 3rd or 4th. Fun. Went from 600 for 1st, 250 for 2nd to hoping I can get 75 bucks back.

I went RB heavy with Forte in the 1st, Foster in the 2nd and Ellington in the 3rd. Seemed to produce decent results I guess. Waited way too long on QB and ended up with a rotating cast of Cutler/Eli.

shit odds are if there are 12 guys you play against every year you're only gonna win once in 12 years. thats how it is. Now shooting for 3rd and 2nd place isn't exactly losing in fantasy football. I've played for 8 straight years took last year off and got back into the same league I always been in and won this year with a 7-6 record. Here's my Championship scorecard. Does that look like a Championship team or doesn't the one I beat look more like the better team to win? total crap shoot.

There is luck involved, but there is also skill. The same guys will get there teams there year after year. Once you get to the playoffs there is a lot of Luck involved for sure. It's similar to poker I'd say.
