So, What's it like to be an Uber driver?
I mean, someone here has to be one. Right?

It's pretty chill. I did it while I was between jobs for a few months our here in LA, and found it fairly rewarding at approx $25/hr. I never drove at night, never had to wait long for my next customer, and had interesting conversation with folks. I would definitely suggest it to anyone who wants to try it!
Now I rent cars out to uber drivers that need a taxi to drive. |

I've thought about doing this but I'm worried about getting mugged or car jacked. Seriously.

My daughter did it part-time for a few months. But she did it between midnight and 4 AM as the busiest time while in college. This way she could get the drunks from the bars. Made me nervous as hell.

Insurance depends on what stage of the process you are in.

I thought about driving, but quickly decided against it when I learned about the insurance issue. If you only have liability then you are fine because Uber provides pretty good liability coverage, but I have full coverage and I'm pretty sure my claim to fix my car would be denied if I got in a wreck while driving commercially.

I owned a pizza joint for 15 years. Its the best bet to avoid issues, just tell them the facts that you want them to know. |

Scenario 1: I was driving down broadway and the guy ran the red light. It was totally his fault. Scenario 2: I was driving down Broadway. The car in front started beaking hard and I didn't see him. I tried to stop but I rearended him. I think it is totally my fault. Never lie but also don't volunteer any information you dont have to. There definitely is possible liability amd I wouldn't do it at my stage in life, but almost every pizza driver you have ever met is in the same situation. |

If you have a Twitter account, ask @hosienation he might have done Lyft instead but he knows the pros and cons of it all.

I took an Uber in KC about 6 weeks ago and the driver told me that he took a Chiefs player home from a bar in the plaza along with a woman. He got tipped $100 cash and this Chiefs player told the driver that if he would take the woman home in the morning that he would tip him another $100.
So the driver got a text in the morning to come pick her up and he drove the woman home to Lawrence for another $100. |
