Nah. They did that because in 2007 the committee couldn't decide if KU was a #1 seed or a #2 seed until after the Big 12 championship game on Sunday, so they went with UCLA as #1 in the west and KU as #2, and then flipped them after KU won the game.

That won't be the case this year.

I would be fine with the higher seed getting to play at home. That's the norm in most sport playoffs.

Whether or not you do that. I've always thought it would be fun to let the higher seed choose what opponent they get to play. Especially in the current format where you are not playing at home. There are different ways that it could be done. For instance for the first game, does the top #1 overall seed get to choose any opponent or only get to choose which 16 seed they play. Considerations would also have to be made for the amount of travel.

But the talking heads and, I would think, most fans would love it.

Yea, it looks more and more like he is going to be one of those "what if/might have been" players.

Shame. I really wanted to see what his talent ceiling in the NBA was.

They need to be compensated for that as much as possible just like Villanova, the Pac 12 winner, ACC winner, etc. It's already a ****ing joke that they award the automatic bid to the winner of the little cute conference tournament instead of the REGULAR SEASON GRIND OF 15 or 16 conference games.

I don't think home court games would ruin anything. I don't think people who bet on the games give a shit where they are playing the games. You still have a chance of a team with a number 12 by their name beating a number 5, and people freaking out thinking it's some amazing upset (when in reality it's barely an upset, if one at all) If anything, it would add more character and flair to have it in a historic gym like The Palestra, AFH, Cameron, etc. I don't know how that is bad for the game versus having it in sparsely filled arenas where 80% of the crowd doesn't care who wins or loses.

In fact, while we are on it. I think the power 5 conferences should agree to remove NCAA from the equation. Make their own tournament, get the midmajors to sign on with it. Higher seeded teams get home court advantage, and the schools keep all of the revenue instead of letting NCAA have their cash cow and hoarding all the revenue.
The NCAA tournament is more popular than the World Series and the NBA playoffs, and it ranks just below the Super Bowl. There's no need to **** around with the format just to satisfy your sense of what's fair and what isn't. It's fine the way it is.

"Most popular" isn't a good metric unless you're cashing in on the popularity.

March Madness is responsible for about 1/3 of all college basketball TV viewers in a given season. Without it the sport would be drastically less interesting, because not having it would also take away a chunk from the other 2/3 in terms of ratings - who are interested in who goes where eventually. (Some who watch today won't if there's no tourney or a diff tourney)

Why anyone would want to change it, or to mimic women's tourney, is so beyond my ability to comprehend. It's nuts.

Sagarin has us -1 tomorrow but the books have it as pick em, with Wynn giving us +1. Maybe they think we don't have much incentive

Knowing this is Forte's last game, it would not shock me to see him make 10 three pointers. One of which being some garbage fade away off the glass with the shot clock winding down in the last couple minutes to put the game away. I also would prefer to see tyler self get minutes with the main contributors getting rest. This game means absolutely nothing.

Perhaps the worst CBB game I've ever watched... double OT, 58 combined fouls, what seemed like 30 missed shots at the end of regulation and the OTs. I just wanted it to be over so badly.
