I choose to look at the silver lining, if Hunt/Veach/Reid don't get rid of Sutton then I'll have more money for hunting and SCUBA gear next year because I won't attend many contests at Arrowhead.

That's exactly why I'm not a STH anymore, I get to vote through the season, and, so far, nothing has touched the cost of being a STH. Heck, with playing and coaching hockey I can't make many of the home games anyway, but I'd still pass on being a STH unless I had GB's seats. So far I this year, or any year since being a STH, I haven't paid face value for a ticket, so it's definitely the way to go until you can't get tix. We'll see when that happens!

Been a Chiefs fan since (nearly) their arrival in KC....Never been a STH. But I can appreciate the extra money for SCUBA....got my certification way back when we went to the Bahamas - but that was years ago...

My kids asked me this year what I wanted for Christmas and my Son says "Dad! You should get back into SCUBA." So I tell him - "Tell you what, you buy me a Rolex Deep Sea Dweller, James Cameron edition - and I'll start diving again"

Still waiting for that $27,000 watch..................

So much for buying new gear....

If Sutton doesn't get his shit together this should be noted as being as big of a disaster as the browns keeping hue this season. If Reid sincerely worried about Sutton he'd bring in some stopgap defense coach for special projects to help grandpa understand how to run a coverage that isn't man.

This shit really needs to just be blown up and get some new faces in here. Emmit Thomas, God love him, is 75 years old and has to be slowing down mentally. Shit man, NFL weekly schedule would give a younger person a run for their money in regards to dedication and time involved. At that age, I think I would rather be fishing and smoking stogies.

Britt Reid, well he ain't going anywhere. I don't know what kind of coach he is, but at least he's young and his father can keep him in check.

I don't know whats up with the rest of the coaching staff, but if it really is nepotism or loyalty, Reid needs to (probably won't) shift his focus and look at the bigger picture.

My wife's father was a Banker. Ran a small family bank back East for many years. Family business. So when my wife was hired as a teller, all of the other employees were ripe with discontent for the daughter of the boss. Within her first couple of weeks, she made an error and lost $100. Her father INSTANTLY fired her. No second chances, NO BULLSHIT.

Not the Dweller, but this one, a 1974 model was handed down to me years ago when my GMT Master was stolen and my father didn't need it anymore (he needed an alarm watch).

And my GMT Master was the cat's meow. That dude dove all around the world, and I pray it turns up some day.

But definitely get back into it, there's just nothing like it.

When I retired I received a Rolex GMT. Beautiful watch. I rarely wear it though, the thought of it being lost or stolen has me keeping it in the safe....I wear it on special occasions though.

Funny thing is, as a submariner, the GMT Master made more sense than the Submariner because of the 24-hour hand.

Skipper dove with an Omega, the other ship's diver had the Submariner, and I had the GMT. We were a motley crew when we hit liberty ports with good water. Diving's especially great when it's not for work, but it's hard work when it's for work.

I'm just thrilled that the sons love it too. Next up, the older son's GF... And like me she's into photography, so there might be some coin dropped on a better setup there too.

I know that the defense isn't very good. One thing to remember is that the offense turned the ball over twice. Once was inside our own 20 yard line. Turn the ball over twice on the road is not an recipe for success.

The Chiefs have played a brutal schedule this year. Just look at the road teams that our team has played. Yeah, it would be nice to play in a division like the Patriots however the AFC West has always been competitive.

That said, the tackling has been bad. Not only that, the effort is lacking. I really don't know what the solution is, I do know that with the same group of players, a coaching change made a huge difference.

What is the solution? Regardless of the coaching, the players are paid to make plays and from what I have seen, the players on defense are lacking in effort.

There is no reason to sit back and play soft, with Mahomes you need a defense that's overly aggressive and gets the ball back one way or another. It's so much better than letting the opponents manipulate their way down field taking all the time off the clock and then scoring. That type of play just hurts our offense and keeps them out of rhythm. DO not punt, Do not kickoff always go for it on 4th down unless the odds are just overwhelming or you're inside your own 40.

Agreed, this is one of the things that made me crazy. Not only were the players missing tackles, they were playing off 10 yards on a 3rd and 3. That's just giving the other team another set of downs.

The last two games the Chiefs have gotten the ball in excellent field position after a good kickoff return or the other team kicking the ball out of bounds. In those situations, the Chiefs went 3 and out. With the defense not making plays, those are situations where keeping the offense on the field would make perfect sense.

I think there's a lot of mischaracterization in this thread.

I don't think if you fired Sutton and just hired another guy and kept everything the same it would suddenly be a great defense.

that being said, I also don't think that 3 #1 pics, at least 4 #2 picks and a Pro bowler in Houston would indicate that they are in terrible shape talent-wise. That's not bottom feeder talent level.

Sutton has a secondary with veterans that have no idea how to line up, linebackers that don't know what their gap responsibilities are and don't attack the line of scrimmage, an entire team that doesn't tackle for shit, and veteran FA's that looked very different just last season in different systems looking lost and useless.

I'm sorry, but that indicates A) the defensive staff are poor teachers of the scheme B) have let slip all fundamentals C) have not established accountability in their players, as the same mistakes happen every week, and D)they play with no fire, other than a few individuals. That's a culture problem. There's no swarming to the ball, attacking of ball carriers. The whole backfield ILB's and DB's all play on their heels. Look at their coordinator. Look at his posture. Look at his demeanor. He's their leader. They act just like he does. Defeated. At the very least, they don't believe in what he's trying to do, so it's time to go. A lot of playing tough defense is intensity, and WANT TO. This defense does not play with it.

Last week was the first time guys were benched for shit play, and I would argue that Reid did that. I think it's pretty clear by his post-game comments. At least the HEAD coach is demanding some accountability, at least behind closed doors.

yes, we have some talent deficiencies. I'm also not sure we can even know where those are, because it appears that the coaching is just THAT bad. Hitchens does NOT look like the same guy. Watch some clips of him last season.

We need scheme changes. We need better coaching. We need an influx of talent. We need all of that, I don't think anyone would argue different.

But this idea that NFL players are finished products when they get to the league and don't need to work on fundamentals is horseshit. Otherwise, why not just play rookies at every position? Why do players improve from year to year? Why is Tyreek Hill a better route runner than he was two years ago? Why is Chris Jones a better player than his rookie season? I mean, come on. That's silly.

It's talent, it's accountability and it's coaching.

You've gotta keep Chris Jones, but the rest can seek work elsewhere. They need to do this offseason what they should have done last offseason and blow the whole thing out and rebuild from the ground up.

Knowing what we know though, you've gotta put some more onus on the offense here. The defense thru 3 quarters had given up 17 points. This defense isn't good, but we know that. That's good enough.

The offense can't sputter and **** around like they did. Pat has been unreal this year and is likely to be the MVP, but there are some little things that I don't know if it's him or Andy that are causing some issues. They've gotten injured in some spots and the whole Hunt thing. But here is what looks to be a prime example of a 2nd year QB not quite knowing what he's looking at.

It's 3rd down and they run their normal cover 3 and we run a man beating concept. Maybe that goes against he tendency of what Seattle has been doing this year on 3rd down, but Pat needs to be able to see that and adjust.

Remember they ran directly up the middle in a heavy set on fourth and 1 and got absolutely smashed... Heavy sets are not this teams strength and why they don't constantly spread teams out I don't know.
