*** 2015 Prospect Tracker: Chiefs Interest / Visits / Work Outs ***

Draft Season is upon us. With the college season ending tomorrow, and the NFL wrapping up soon as well, our focus shifts to the most glorious time of year.

With a ton of picks this year, it will be even more exciting to follow.

4 years ago, this thread had a few guys that we selected in the draft. 3 years ago, this thread had 4 of our 8 draft picks. 2 years ago, we got Kelce and Fisher, and last year we snagged Murray, DAT, LD-T, and Kona Schwenke.

Here was our list from 2014:
Spoiler!

For those who are new, the way this operates is that we collectively monitor various social media sources, blogs, articles and reports for news of the Chiefs' interest in a certain player. When posted in this thread, I will update the OP to include the player. *Please provide the link to the article, the players name, position and team.

I am going to try to link to player profiles when they exist, courtesy of draftbreakdown.com. For some of the lesser-known guys, it may just be a random video or profile from their team website.

I just watched his game against Nebraska - again, only and first impression - but I was kinda disappointed.

+ He is very strong; his arms wrap the runner with a huge impact on his tackles, and he lifts the runner up.
+ Holds his ground on blocks
+ He takes great angles in pursuit to the outside

- He seems slow to react; does a lot of watching and waiting... and sort of dances around the pile while other guys are on the ground.
- While he takes great angles, it was usually because he was slow to get to the initial point of contact. It's like he's trying to play clean up man, instead of the first-to-arrive destroyer mentality that we see with DJ sometimes.

Takeaways - I need to watch more on him, because he has a ton of buzz and I just don't see it yet. I'm guessing he lays nasty hits occasionally, but he just seems to be out there hovering and protecting himself. Almost reminds me of DRC just standing around the pile instead of getting in on the tackles. I expected to see more nasty, more fight I guess.

Well according to an interview with Denzel Perryman, we didnt show a whole lot of interest. There was some interest there but we werent the most interested ones.

This Devante Davis guy.

Pretty nice hands, but does not get separation and is therefore not a good pairing for Alex Smith.

Smith is so risk adverse that he won't even throw to Dwayne Bowe. He requires his receiver to get separation, either through straight line speed or quick cuts and runs.

After watching this video, I just don't see how this guy ever does anything with Smith at the helm. I say pass, as we are clearly committed to Smith.

This Wes Saxton guy.

I like him. I watched the two tapes below, and had completely different takeaways from each.

The first video was from this past season. He's a big target, and makes me think that he'd fill the Fasano role in our offense opposite Kelce. He's there to move the chains, and Alex would likely check down to him pretty often.
2014:

This second video is completely different, and its from 2013. I watched this after the first video, and was expecting to see large guy run the 8 yard curls. But no. In this video, he looks like Vernon-****ing-Davis (against shitty talent, yes.). Super fast for a TE. If he's anything like Davis, then he's a fantastic fit for Alex, and it would be great to be able to run double TE sets with two speedsters in Kelce and Saxton... like Gronk and Hernandez a few years ago.

2013:

At the combine
However, every team is limited to interviewing just 60 player and have to submit a list in advance of the players they wish to interview. As well, each interview is limited to only 15 minutes meaning the players are under immense pressure as it may be the first and possibly only time they have direct contact with NFL coaches and general managers.

Any way of finding the list of players the chiefs selected to interview at the combine this year, is this list public ? Or do we have to wait for players to announce what teams they talked too?

Its usually pretty unstructured in terms of how the info trickles out, leaving us to track down tweets and reports in the wild.
