Could a tiger kill a person in plate mail?

I was pondering this during a run this morning. Assume the following:
  • An average-sized adult male tiger (440 pounds)
  • The tiger is hungry but not starving. It's healthy.
  • The human is an average-sized adult male of 5-9 height and 198 pounds of weight.
  • The armor is full 16th-century plate mail that looks like the picture below.
  • The guy in armor has no weaponry at all and is on foot. He's playing defense only.
  • Assume that the encounter is happening in a natural setting with no other people, tigers, or prey around.

What would happen? Would the tiger immediately rip off the armor or some limbs and kill the guy? Would the tiger work on the armor and get it off after 15 minutes of hard work? Would the tiger give up quickly after breaking a fang or two? Would the tiger gnaw on the armor for 20 minutes before eventually giving up?

Edit: sorry for the typo in the poll. I know how to spell 'armor'.

Poll coming.

I think Tiger clamps down right away, chips a tooth and looks for another meal.

Tiger every time. Tigers kill by biting at the neck and suffocating their prey. That plate isn't going to stop a tiger from crushing that area and doing what he does. Getting to his meal may be of an isdue, but by then he will have all the time he needs.

What do tigers dream of
When they take a little tiger snooze?
Do they dream of mauling zebras
Or Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit?

With a bite force of 1,050 PSI and deadly strikes of their powerful paws, very few animals can match the strength of a tiger.
A tiger’s bite force is 1,050 PSI
Tiger teeth size: 3.5 inches
Tigers can run at a speed of 40 mph
A tiger’s paw swipe force is measured at about 10,000 pounds
Tiger paw size: 8×8 inches
Tiger claw size: 4 inches
Tigers can jump 20 feet horizontally

Really need more info.

Are they in a fence area? If so Tiger will win

Out in the wild? Tiger will not even attack if I had to guess. Knight wins.

While Tigers are the largest cat I think a Lion is more aggressive and almost just as big. Lion would spend the time to get the job done while the Tiger is much more selective on what it attacks.

Apparently the human population was tiny at some point in our past. I read recently that the low point was estimated to be only 1,300 people on earth about 70,000 years ago. It's possible that with some bad breaks that large predators could have rendered the human species extinct at that point. It's interesting to think about a world with no humans where it's just a bunch of animals running around in anarchy.

Neanderthals or Denisovans probably would have moved back into Africa and taken taken up homo sapiens' niche.

tiger, quickly

a tiger is going to pounce and land on the knight with all of its weight, 400+ lbs. that would probably incapacitate the knight

I'd say your best hope is the tiger not recognizing you as a food source. Next hope would be first bite only crushes your arm and the metal taste makes the tiger abandon the fight. I'd have to think 9 times out of 10 your completely ****ed.
