If we can't get Poe extended this off-season with the leverage of the 5th yr option and possible franchise tag, it suggests that we'll likely be unable to get him re-signed at all.

It will also more closely align with his prime years. If you extend him this off-season to a deal that pays him well but has an escape hatch in 4 seasons, you'll get ages 26-29. If you let him get through year 5 and his tag year, he'll be through 26 and 27 and an extension may well be tough to escape before age 31.

In addition to our FAs, this is a very prime off-season for Dorsey to get deals done with Poe, Fisher and Kelce. Dorsey could put this team in outstanding position for the next 5 years if he's able to have a home run offseason.

It's so hard to say what we will do draft wise because I truly think Dorsey goes BPA, at least in the first round for sure. He picks the guy he thinks is truly going to be the best for what we do. It makes it a really tough call up until draft day.

The nice thing about this run over the last 3 years is that it's the first time in probably a decade that I'm just not that concerned with the draft. We have the depth and talent up and down the roster that we could manage to get nothing in year 1 from this year's draft and still be in fine shape for 2016.

That said, if Dorsey's able to take the positive momentum from this season and use it to get some of the young core players extended, it will create an atmosphere around this team that we haven't seen since the mid-90s.

I'm excited. There's so much good that can come out of this offseason and unless Dorsey just sleeps through it (i.e. forgets to tag Berry and shits in DJ's shoes), there really isn't a ton of bad. For all the concerns regarding our pending FAs, there just doesn't seem to be much of a chance that the guys running this show are going to let it fall to shit.

Dorsey's going to have his typical strong offseason.

Solid draft, solid free agency period.

The Chiefs will go 14-2 next year and every media member outside of KC will question "how good are they, really?" because they have yet another "weak" schedule.

But next year is THE year.

Away opponents: Denver, Oakland, San Diego, Houston, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Carolina, Pittsburgh

That's not an easy road schedule.

They swept San Diego and the Raiders this season without Charles and without Houston.

Indy sucks, Atlanta sucks, they beat Houston twice this year, Pittsburgh continues to fade, Denver will most likely be without Manning and have big decisions to make about Ware, Miller, etc. Carolina poses the biggest challenge.

The AFC South and NFC South for the most part, suck.

It's tough to gauge a schedule's difficulty so early on.

Did anyone really think a year ago we were going to lose to Chicago? Or how about win at Denver?

It's just too soon. You can bet on good Coach/QB combos to be good, but that's about
it.

But I wouldn't bet on that happening two years in a row.

If there are teams that want to take our 1st round pick, I'd be happy to take their 2nd and a 4th round for it. We can get exactly what we need with two 2nd round picks.
