Not real up on how exactly franchise tag works, but could we tag Howard? Or would we end up paying way too much because he is a DT?

Just saw in RunKC's link. Howard- “Ultimately and truthfully, I got to take care of my family at this point,” Howard said. “I want to be paid like one of the top D-linemen in this league, and I felt like I deserve that. I played well enough to get that and hopefully we can get something done. I’d love to be back here.”

Jeez, I feel like Dorse may just let him walk. Tag question still stands.

This rubs me the wrong way a bit. Jeff Allen - “I would like to be back here,” Allen said, “but honestly it takes two sides. I’ll leave it at that.”

The tag for DT's last year was $11.1 million, DE's were at $14.8 million.

Eric Berry would be a cheaper tag option at $9.6 million.

I think it's entirely possible that we let Howard walk and Smith stays for a bit less.

Howard is nice but we have Bailey, Poe, an up and coming Nick Wiliams and I thjnk DeVito would come back

Just looked and see he is officially listed as DE(different from what OP states) and will want that cash. I hope he doesn't go to the division.

Howard is gonna get paid. I'd be shocked if the Chiefs retained him. But it sounds like they're not offering him what he thinks he's worth, and he'll likely be a first week signing as soon as F/A opens. Dude is goooone.

I think Howard is long gone. And that's okay. He's this year's Rodney Hudson.

He is not one of the top D-lineman in the league. He should not be getting top 5 DL money.

We have more urgent needs than giving Howard $15 million a year.

I think you have to re-sign Berry, DJ and Smith. Perhaps Branch as well as I thought he filled in nice. Abdullah? If the $ is right. Howard if we can but I think he will get paid.

Howard is gone and after Saturday's no-show, I really don't give a shit.

I know it's irrational and stupid, but that unit absolutely had to get pressure up the middle and it flat out didn't come to play.

The dude's gonna get 9-10 million in AAV and it's pretty obvious that he's going to the highest bidder. In a cap league, he's a guy you let walk. Truthfully, Sean Smith at 29 yrs old is one of those guys as well.
