Is anyone else now uninterested in the Chiefs' past?

As I bask in the sunshine of the Mahomes era, I find myself far less interested in the past. I don't care about past playoff losses, I don't fret about past quarterbacks, and Herman Edwards can talk about whatever he wants. The current Chiefs have no relation to the past, and I find myself living in the present and looking forward to the future. I like this new life of mine.

I realize now that nearly every playoff game in my memory has been mid-level teams squabbling for table scraps. We lost to the Colts? Who cares? Neither team was going anywhere anyway. I have released my anger.

Matt Cassel? Who cares? It's the past. He's gone. We have a franchise quarterback.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

And like Best22 said, I'm calm before games and excited about them. We can win any game at any place at any time.
The one thing I don’t think I can think about without feeling upset is Lin Elliott.

I know the history, I’ve lived it for almost 30 years, and I realize that the past no longer matters because we have Showtime! He’s gonna erase all the shit decisions this franchise has made over the years! It’s the dawn of a new era, and the future is so bright I gotta wear Ray Charles glasses!

Ah man, it’s not fun to forget Jamaal Charles and Tamba doing the Tamba-hawk after a sack and DJ, Berry, etc. There are quite a few things I enjoyed...quite a few players I really liked in that era that I have fond memories of...that’s what frustrated me the most in that phase...have these cool, awesome players who wouldn’t ever win a ring because of their QB situation. I do hate that we wasted some cool players’ careers.

I guess it's that any asshole can watch Mahomes play and enjoy the hell out of it. It takes a long time Chiefs fan (or similarly abused fan base), to appreciate just how special this is.

Is anyone else now uninterested in the Chiefs' past?

Since I’m an old ****. I’ll remember the Chiefs past.

The fun years when I was a kid 1966-1971. I’ve forgotten most of the Steadman years(1974-1988) except for the last 3 regular season games in 1986. I’ll always remember the Marty years fondly because Chiefs football was fun again. I’ve forgotten most of the years that followed except for that fun year in 2003 with Vermeil, Priest & Tony. The Andy years have been a lot of fun & now it’s been glorious.

If you didn't get to watch Lenny, Willie, Buck, Otis, etc walk out on the field and win a SB you'll never understand how fun it is to watch the Chiefs as a whole walk with that swagger again.

I revisited the Tyler Palko win in Chicago (the Hail Mary) and the Matt Cassel 9-6 loss to the Ravens (the fans "cheering" his concussion). I have a hankerin' to watch the Chiefs/Giants game from a year ago to only further drive up my excitement for Mahomes.

No more bullshit halves of football from our quarterback where they only throw for 25 yards and leave us all wondering "What in the **** was that?"....
