LinkedIn is ubiquitous.

I use it to connect with co-workers, former co-workers and friends that have an interest in life/work/business.

How do you use it?

Do you get a benefit? Job opportunities? A connection to others?

Just curious.

I'm a PayPal integration specialist and I get work from Linked In all the time. It usually happens from people who work at PayPal and eBay and need a 3rd party developer to help them with something.

Then, being connected with various people from those corporations, other people within the corps see me and add me as well, so I wind up with a nice group of contacts within LinkedIn that can get things done for me.

PayPal also uses it pretty heavily to run groups for Ambassadors, technical questions, general questions, etc. I answer lots of questions in there which helps get more exposure as well.

I get lots of referrals from PayPal employees because of that.

From what I can see all 20 charges were from services rendered.

I use it probably once a week or so, I haven't been job hunting for awhile so I'm not sure if it is useful for that or not.

I signed up a few years ago. I make sure it's up to date every few months. That's about it.

We use it to post job openings. We've had good results.

Groups can be useful for industry specific questions, too.

I use it to connect and build my client network plus as a sales person it is a lead gold mine.

I've not needed it for a job but it sends me an auto email weekly of job postings I might be interested in.

I think it is a good tool although they have been pulling back the free features and charging for more and more things.
