Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Four months of low carb dieting and I'm down 38 pounds at 197.

My problem (which has been ongoing for a while) is taking dumps. I'm constipated most of the time. If I do dump, it's not a normal man's dump. My wife believes I have a hemorrhoid as well. I'm guessing from the constant struggle during dumping.

I did eat kind of shitty tonight with more carbs than normal, not a ridiculous amount. Hoping it would allow me to unleash.

Any suggestions?

Agreed. .7 * weight or 1g per pound of lean body mass should suffice. I hate to think what you are actually eating. Chicken breasts and protein shakes?

I've dropped 40 this year with intermittent fasting and a clean...ish diet. I focus on 1900 calories per day and ~140 g of protein. I figure carbs and fat will sort themselves out if I stay under 1900. The fewer restrictions allow me to fit more cravings ( ice cream, freddy's burgers, tacos) into my diet which in the long run will keep me on the diet and happier doing so.

Uh, change your diet?

Get more fiber and lay off dairy

Make the carbs you do eat rich in fiber, a
la truscuits and fruit...

You dont want to go down the laxative road from my experience, you'll wind up crapping liquid too many times a day to count

Are you eating a bunch of cheese and dairy to avoid carbs? I eat at least one kirkland(costco) protein bar per day. (15g fiber). Dumps are a breeze.

I wouldn't recommend it, but everyone's body reacts differently...

Id recommend getting it naturally, but my own personal debacle with attempting that didn't go well lol...

I do however admit that I am in no way certified to attack this nutritional issue and thereby grant myself immunity in any potential failings or future disappointments that may occur...

Last time I was constipated for an extended period of time I took ex lax. Way too much of it.

It did fix my problem....a lot.

I'm with you for normal dieting. Normally, I'm only at 175 or so. But when you're in a severe calorie deficit (I'm sitting somewhere around -1000/day), you need at least twice as much to minimize muscle loss.

It's also incredibly filling, so I'm less apt to overeat my calorie limit.

Shrimp, chicken breast. That's it. Plenty of different ways to cook it, though, from buffalo sauce and a slow cooker, to BBQ, stir-fry, grilled. Gets a little boring, but with fat free cream cheese and fat free cheese, you can dress it up enough to last.

I'm on the other end. My cholesterol was high so I started eating a lot more fiber. I'm not worried about the carbs.

I can't cut a clean turd to save my ass. Literally.
