Why is Jared Goff still on the Rams bench??

I dont get it? Why did they draft him if they dont believe in him???

Jared Goff must be terrible.

That's pretty much the only conclusion that one can draw at this point after Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher once again declined to put Goff in the game on Sunday, even though as of halftime against Carolina, his team hadn't scored in six straight quarters. Not only that, they were playing at home and coming off a bye week in which this year's No. 1 overall pick reportedly got more reps with the first team offense. What more could Fisher ask for than that?

If the argument is that Fisher didn't want to insert Goff in the middle of a game or at a time when he didn't get reps all week and know he was going to be the starter going into the game, that's somewhat understandable. But only if Goff starts now. As in, this week.

Fisher said after Case Keenum threw four interceptions in a loss to the New York Giants in London in Week 7 that he'd be more likely to make a change at wide receiver than he would at quarterback. He said after the game on Sunday that he didn't hear the fans chanting "We Want Goff," even though everybody else in the Coliseum did.

At this point, the only thing more inexplicable than Case Keenum's job security is Jeff Fisher's job security.

In each case, the decision maker seems perfectly content with a slightly below average existence, a rarity in pro sports and with good reason.

Fisher's only possible reasons for keeping Keenum under center instead of Goff at this point is Fisher's belief that either Goff isn't ready or that Keenum gives the Rams the best chance to win. Either way, it doesn't bode well for Goff and his future with the Rams.

If he's still not ready to play, that should be awfully troubling to the Rams fans out there that watch the Cowboys' fourth-round rookie Dak Prescott lead his team to a 7-1 record or the Eagles' No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz throw for close to 400 yards on the road in an effort to keep his team in the thick of the playoff race. Even Cody Kessler, a third-round pick for the winless Browns, looks like a competent NFL quarterback out there on a weekly basis. Yet Goff may still not "be ready"?

And even if we buy that Goff isn't quite ready to play, whatever that means, what does that say about him? What are the odds that a guy that evidently isn't ready to play midway through his rookie season goes on to have a storied career as a franchise quarterback? It's not a real encouraging start that this thing is headed in that direction.

The other possibility is simply that Keenum still gives the Rams the best chance to win. Based on the team and Keenum's performance in four straight losses, what does that say about Goff? We're talking about a journeyman quarterback in Keenum that has eight interceptions during this four-game stretch and went over 115 minutes of game time before finally getting his team a touchdown with a pass to Kenny Britt on Sunday. That's almost two full games without getting in the end zone.

The Browns evidently believe Kessler gives them a better chance to win than veteran Josh McCown. The Eagles felt the same way about Wentz and Chase Daniel. Heck, even the Cowboys think Prescott is the right guy for the job in Dallas instead of Tony Romo, even though they won't admit it publicly yet.

But Goff can't give the Rams a better chance than Keenum?

Fisher's reluctance to play the guy the team mortgaged its future to obtain brings up more questions than answers at this point.

When will this lack of faith start to affect Goff's confidence?

Just as importantly, what message is Fisher sending to the rest of the team as it relates to Goff?

Players want to win and if they agree with Fisher that Keenum gives them the best chance to do so, then they likely aren't complaining. But again, what does that say about Goff? And really, how much worse can you get than not being able to score any touchdowns?

No matter what the logic or reasoning is to this point, it all circles back to Goff either not being good or not being ready, either one of which is highly concerning.

It feels like Fisher has been trying to buy both himself and Goff as much time as possible by delaying the inevitable, but that time is now up.

It's time for Goff to show what he's got.

I'm okay with letting a guy start, even with the Rams situation, but only if Keenum was effective.

Keenum isn't, so they need to see what Goff can do. If anything, starting the young kid could of bought him more time. Fisher is just ****ing dumb.
