Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.

A few quick ground rules:
  • No Spoilers!!!!! for upcoming episodes.
  • Larger Song of Ice and Fire discussion should be limited to the other thread although I think a tiny bit of book delving to fill in holes should be okay (example of this would be talking about Catelyn and her treatment of the wolves in the novel, which was alluded to on TV but never really made clear...)
  • Everything that happened that week is fair game once an episode airs. So if you don't watch on Sunday night, I'd stay outta here until you do...

I really wish I was the kind of person who could just stop analyzing the armor and weapons in this show and simply enjoy the spectacle, but I'm not.

After all, I shouldn't expect much gritty tactical realism from fighters whose faceplates would not only bang into their chin with each step, but guarantee them a broken nose in every single combat.

I'm not really the type to do that but sometimes it is hard to overlook.

The entire time Daenerys was with Drogo and his huge khalasar, I couldn't help but wonder what they could even hope to do in Westeros. They had a huge host and horses would make them pretty dangerous, but they didn't seem like the type that used siege weapons and I'd have to guess most fights 1v1 between a guy with absolutely no armor whatsoever (a Dothraki) and a knight (anyone in Westeros) would end in the guy with no armor taking a dirt nap.

It was nice to finally see Barriston light some ****ers up. Hope he doesn't die about it. Grey Worm is also a good character. He also lit some dudes up.

I apparently missed the part where Sansa left the moat and went to Winterfell. Baelish is going to die. Seriously. He talks about being the best at maneuvers and then rides to Kings Landing? Dudes tenure on the show is over.

John Snow got waaaaayyy more pussy after he took a vow of chastity. I need to take a vow of chastity. However, that "you know nothing John Snow was awesome. Don't know what the **** it means but it is awesome. In other news, Stanis talking about the greyscale was pretty compelling television.

Bronn and Jamie is pretty awesome. I didn't expect them to go rocking people's shit just yet, but **** yeah. Do it. Jamie's snarks about being one handed are hilarious. Never get old. I was, however disappointed in the sand snakes. They aren't very awesome. Burying a Dude and putting scorpions on his head to make him talk, awesome. Being 4 whiney in imposing bitches with not athletic or martial prowess other than a poorly acted Chuck of spear through scorpion guys done, not awesome.

The Cersei Margery thing is awesome. I'm not sure what to think about the armed priests, but it's a pretty significant plot point.

I presume old man Tyrell is dying on his journey? Do I just need to presume that or do you suppose they will show it?
