When you lie your pulse rate goes quicker & the only way to beat it is practice & believe what you're saying. It is possible to beat the lie detector test but unlikely for 9/10 times, is my guess.

I have to take one every 5 years to keep my job. You will not beat it unless you have complete control of your body or are a sociopath and have no sense of guilt or remorse.
The best thing is to tell them the truth. They may then give you the test and ask you if you have ever done it anytime other than the times you told them about. If you can pass it then they may well consider you honest enough to hire. Worst case they just won't hire you. That isn't so bad. When you have to pass it to keep your job that is much more pressure - even if you are innocent. Trust me on this one.... |

From what I understand, they should ask you a few test questions at the beginning to calibrate your baseline like your name, etc. If you were poking yourself with a thumbtack or something while answering these initial questions it would probably mess up the baseline. Someone on here either has experience administering or taking polygraph and could probably give you a more informed answer, though.

Answer another question in your head when you answer the marijuana question. So when they ask have you smoked Mary Jane in the last five years immediately think of a question in your head that the answer is no. Are you 106 years old? No. Make sure you practice and have a question lined up you know you can answer no to. You have to believe you are only answering the question in your head.
