E! Greenlights Dating Competition Series With NFL Star Travis Kelce

http://deadline.com/2016/01/e-orders...ce-1201692270/

E! has ordered eight episodes of Catching Kelce, a dating competition series starring Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, for premiere later this year.

Fifty eligible women, one from each state in the U.S. will be invited to Los Angeles as Kelce searches for that special someone to become his lifelong “teammate.” Kelce will be joined by famous friends and family to help him along his journey, but in the series finale, only he can decide who is the right woman for him. The dating series has a twist, though. While Kelce will be deciding who stays in the house and who is sent home along the way, the women are able to strategically decide who is attending the all-important group dates. The debate becomes: do you pick your friends and keep those loyalties strong, or choose the “weakest” contenders to make yourself stand out? Lines will be drawn and friendships will be tested as the women pick and choose who gets the extra time with this football superstar.

“On top of being a well-respected athlete, Travis has a fun-loving, over the top personality that draws people to him, and we are excited to give our viewers an up-close look at his search for love,” said Jeff Olde, EVP, Programming and Development, E!.

In his first full year on the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce had 67 catches, 862 yards, and five touchdowns to lead all the Chiefs, while his 503 yards after catch led all NFL tight ends. In 2014 and 2015, Kelce was a top vote getter for “Touchdown Dance of the Year.” Off the field, the NFLPA has named him one of their “Community Players of the Year.” Dedicated to his charity Eighty-Seven & Running, Travis spends much of his time working with less fortunate kids throughout the city.

Catching Kelce is produced by Grandma’s House Entertainment. Ben Newmark and Dan Newmark of Grandma’s House Entertainment, Scott Langerman of ACE Media, and Lauren Stevens are executive producers. Adam Bold and Mike Lopez of Grandma’s House Entertainment will serve as producers.

It's got to be disappointing for the women in the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories that they don't get to be included. The love of Kelce's life may be in the Northern Marianas right now, and she'll never get her chance because some producer doesn't care about history and geography.

So much for him making 'the leap' ala Tony G. He's pretty happy being really good and otherwise enjoying life.

I guess I can't blame him, but I damn sure don't have to like it. The guy has HoF talent.

That'll be pretty cold comfort if we bow out in the divisional round again.

Kelce has never struck me as a guy with a strong work ethic. I didn't expect him to turn it up a notch, so this show thing, while surprising, seems to fit his character.

Too bad Michael Sam didn't play tight end.

The only way to stop Gronk is to play trance music before the ball is snapped, so that Gronk just starts Gronk dancing at the line, disregarding his route assignment.

In many ways, this puts his NFL performance under the microscope even further.

If he has a bad year, teams will point directly to the E! reality show.

But on the other hand, if he continues to ascend, his value may never be higher.

I actually think it's a good thing for the Chiefs. Whether or not Kelce is affected by it, it puts the team in more of a spotlight. And as we know in the NFL, teams in the spotlight get treated better on a number of fronts, both on and off the field.
