Why is this a trend? It keeps happening and there’s been 0 effort shown to correct it. A lot is on the D but the offense often cannot get a 1st to put the game away. Is this common in other teams? Is this just the Chiefs? Is this just a total failure of not recognizing and correcting your mistakes?
At least this time it wasn't that big of a lead. We went up 2 scores and needed to not go 3 and out. Of course I'm not absolving the defense of the blame, but we all knew if we went 3 and out on our last possession we were screwed. And it wasn't Mahomes fault at all. Losing 5 yards on 1st down, getting a false start on 3rd, and then failing in pass protection. It was our worst possession of the game at the worst time.

Like I said before, we don't need a "great" DC, we just need a competent one with a little fire, someone who holds guys accountable and coaches up the players, especially the young ones we'll have to rely on once Pat gets paid.

In our case, "mediocre" would literally get the job done and be a HUGE upgrade.

14 point lead in the 4th with 5 minutes left is big enough. Yea lots of blame to go around I am starting to come around to blaming the offense. For as prolific as they have been, the simple things like getting a few yards to ice the game has been tough for them to do. Most of that is on coaching I suppose play calling and yes dip shits not executing and jumping offsides at home in a crucial moment.

I still want bobs old tired ass gone. Defense is a disaster. Scheme or not his players can’t execute and that is on coaching. This whole staff must just be one big uninspired bunch. There seems to be 0 pride there. Hate to say it but Berry’s “oh yea when I feel like my spirit tells me to play” crap doesn’t help either. Props to Fuller for playing through his injury and not pulling the same shit.

That 2 point conversion defense was EMBARRASSING that to me just reflects on coaching just no ****ing discipline no coordination wtf.

Maybe Ron Rivera gets fired this year and we can hire him as our defensive coordinator.

Throw the normal playbook of protecting a lead with your defense out the window. We just can’t do it.

Sooner Andy realizes this the sooner we might have a chance to win games again.

I hope we go out of the box. Get a younger guy possibly from Saban's line of thought. Experience is nice but look at what the Big 12 is doing to combat these spread offenses that have taken over. Pattern matching zones is where its at. Gone are the days of heavy man schemes that ask corners to simply line up and beat the NFL's top receivers. Shit doesn't work in the modern NFL with the new rule changes.

I think the most maddening thing about Sutton beyond his shit scheming is that he doesn’t even play the best players. Jordan Lucas was obviously, obviously the 2nd best safety on this team and he never gets to play.

Is Phillip Gaines still a starter?

Maybe he improved under a real Seconday coach? Dude has all the raw tools needed to play CB, maybe Emmitt Thomas isn't the right guy to coach the secondary anymore?

I want Kris Richards or the Bears LB coach.

The agressive DB style of Defense doesn't work anymore with the new rules, and it may be Sutton and Thomas that need to go, because that's their style of play, and it just draws penalties now. Rivera is having the same issue.

Look to the Ravens, Cowboys, and Bears on how to play defense in todays NFL.

I already told you in 3 different threads : SCABDICK blew the coverage and played man instead of reading banjo and crossing up to get an angle on the pick or crosser that Bob Sutton (and everyone else who knows about football) knew was coming.

Here's a whole thread on the subject :

I could behind either of those guys. I'm kind of on the Ben Bloom boat, Cowboys LB coach, worked under Marinelli, coached D-line, was pass rush specialist, has worked as game strategist, has worked in both 3-4 and 4-3 fronts.
